Claims Mr. Murphy with Cumberland County Court in NC. Wants payment for checkfraud

I received a voice mail from a Mr. Thompson, saying if I did not contact him, I would be served with papers from Riverside County Courts at my home or work for check fraud and the pre trial docket # was 48521. I called back, even though I know I haven't done fraud and the number is no longer in service.

He called again and left a voice mail and said the number he gave me to call was disconnected because of the "Solar Storms" in the area.  Whattttt???????

ALWAYS record their calls. Log their calls. Tell them you are recording immediately when you answer the phone. If they object tell them they can end the conversation, otherwise they WILL be recorded. If they are calling the wrong number tell them you will file complaints with their attorney general, your attorney general and the FTC. Demand their physical address to send a certified cease and desist letter. Google it to make sure it is a correct address. Send the letter. If they call again sue them for a FDCPA violation. If they claim you have a debt DEMAND a letter of validation be sent through the MAIL. If the debt is past the statute of limitations do not pay it.  Research the FDCPA ans sue for each and every violation. You can make a few bucks on their violations of the law. Be civil, but do not let them talk over you. Yell over them if necessary. Remember RECORD their calls :).

Someone called asking for Katrina Wilson apparently for check fraud. The name of the guy was Mr. Tompson and he left a dock # 53826 and hte number 855-208-0227 to called him back and make a payment.

Plz don't give this person any information.
He left a threating Voicemail on Feb. 24. I called back and he said I was honna be charged with check fraud with an online payday loan i didnt pay(which I thought i paid out) and it would cost me thousands of dollars. He left the number 855-208-0227. I setup monthly payment arrangements and noticed they hadn't taken out for March. So I called today and the number isn't working. I called my bank today and my bank gave me a different # 855-239-7157(Northwestern, LLC)
So I called that # and that number isn't working.
He got me out of $50. He called out my SSN, DOB, checking account routing #, so I believed him.
