Called saying they had court documents. Dah....never heard this scam before. Lol

Called telling me I owed money for an old credit card.... One I did not have. I should start by saying they legit had a person try to serve me papers at  my in-laws who i haven't spoke to in any way in almost 6-years, nor would I ever use their name as a reference on anything. I called an confronted them on this, and he proceeded to tell me how this debt is valid and I could take it up with a court judge. I proceeded to cuss this man out, and he told me how he had my address and doesn't want me to see him show up, "Something bad might happen," as he put it. I looked up  the company and nothing shows for them... anywhere. Not on Licensed Businesses through the state, or anywhere on a search... direct or otherwise. I have called and filed a report, as he contacted my mother the week before in a threatening manner stating she was being served as well.... My mother has been debt free for 30 years....lol

Sounds like a "process server" extortion scam but I have never heard of them actually showing up.  There must be something more to this.  Did they send you a letter and you ignored it?
