Is this a vtech support scam number

I called this number because it was suggested to me by a website when I was looking for a solution to a problem I was having with a Belkin WiFi extender.  When I called it, a person asked me to go to https://www.fastsupport.com/ and type in some code he would give me as well as my name. He said it would allow him to inspect my computer's settings and such.  I was uncomfortable with this request since I have no idea who they are and they were going to be snooping around my computer, so I hung up.  I called the number back and requested more information about who they are and what they do.  They told me they were a 3rd party support company that handles support for things like printers, routers, etc, and that they covered any brand.  I don't know if they are legit or not, but it seemed fishy to me so I didn't use them. I looked up the actual number to Belkin customer service and went that route.  I would recommend anyone else do the same if they need support.  If a 3rd party company is providing support for all these different products they need to be getting money somehow, which means they will probably try to charge you in some way if they provide services to you.
