- Terry Lynch| 1 replyThis # belongs to Western......apparently some kind of Legal mediation firm...they gave last 4 numbers of a Social security # that were not mine and so said they would take my phone # off the list....lots of Terry Lynch names in the US, apparently one of them has some legal headaches
- Caller: Western
- Gunnar replies to Terry LynchNope. Apparently the outfit that calls itself "Western" has that name in the last batch of bogus paper that it bought cheap. They're now going to call everyone they can find that has that name or is in any way linked to someone with that name. That's what SCAMMERS do.
The only "legal headache" involved will be for the clowns behind the "Western" name if they're ever tracked down.
Be Safe. Be Aware.
Gunnar - pettythis is a scam, i called back and they said they didnt have time to speak to me, they said that would call back.

- tkk| 1 replyReceived a call from 855-208-2459, no message. Called them back and spoke with a lady at "Western" who claimed that they were calling on behalf of Mesa Financial for an old payday loan that was never paid from before 12/30/2012. I asked them for contact info on Mesa to verify this debt. They said they can't but to look it up on the internet. I asked them for their mailing address and she told me they won't give that info out. I insisted and she put me on with a supervisor who said "we don't give that out. For all I know, you'll send a bomb." I hung up on them. SCAM SCAM SCAM. Scary part is they seem legit at first, they had my old mailing address and last four of my SSN and seemed legit until I started asking questions.

- K.E.| 2 repliesThis number is calling me. my sister, my ex husband, his brother and now my father all within the last few days. When I try calling back I'm unable to connect with anyone as it says they're voicemail is full. I hate that whoever this is is not just contacting my but also family members. I can't get any information from them whatsoever. Very disturbing!!
- Alfalfa replies to K.E.How can I verify whether or not a debt collector is legitimate?
Here are a few warning signs that could signal a debt collection scam:
The debt collector threatens you. Legitimate debt collectors probably won't claim that they'll have you arrested or claim that they or their employees are law enforcement officers.
The debt collector refuses to give you information about your debt or is trying to collect a debt you do not recognize. You have certain rights to ask a debt collector to verify the debt. You can use this sample letter to request this information. Ask for an explanation in writing before you pay.
The debt collector refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number.
The debt collector asks you for sensitive personal financial information. You should never provide anyone with your personal financial information unless you are sure they're legitimate.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his or her name, company, street address, telephone number, and professional license number. Many states require debt collectors to be licensed. Check the information the caller provides you with your state officials, or the state in which the debt collector holds a license. If the caller refuses or is unable to provide you with information about his company, or if you can’t verify the information he provides, do not give money to the caller or company.
Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." This notice must include:
The amount of the debt
The name of the creditor you owe
A description of certain rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, consider requesting this information in writing or seeking assistance before paying the debt to make sure the debt, and the company, are valid.
Tip: You can consider sending the collector a letter requesting the information by using one of the CFPB's sample letters. You can also submit a complaint to the CFPB or you can contact your state Attorney General’s office.
Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know the company or person you are talking with is a real debt collector. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft such as:
Charging your existing credit cards
Opening new credit card or checking accounts
Writing fraudulent checks
Taking out loans in your name
Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
Report the call. Submit a complaint with the CFPB or get in touch with your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers.
Stop speaking with the caller. If nothing else works and you believe the calls are fraudulent, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files.
Tip: You can use this sample letter to write a letter demanding the debt collector stop contacting you. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
Tip: If you're having trouble with debt collection, you can submit a complaint with the CFPB online or by calling (855) 411-CFPB (2372).

- jh - Fort Wyane, INHave received 3 calls left on my voicemail, with the following message:
"Hello, I’m calling in regards to a formal complaint that has been filed against one [S.K.]. Again, 855-208-xxxx or press any key on your dial pad to be connected immediately. Our next step will be filing the necessary paperwork with the local county court. Thank you for your cooperation."

The caller never identified himself, his organization, or the local county in the voicemail.

Note: This report will be submitted under the other 2 phone numbers also. - EL - Memphis,TnWe keep getting these calls every day. I am SO sick of it!! Usually I just hang up, but this time I wanted to know what the hell the call was about. I stayed on the line and pressed 0 to get a representative. When the rep. got on the line he said that there was a complaint against my dad and that he needed to talk with him. The rep refused to tell me what the complaint was about, but asked if my dad had an attorney. I was so frustrated that I hung up on him. Afterwards I waited a little while and called the number back. When I finally got to talk with someone, that person laughed and hung up in my face!! So YES I definitely believe this is a scam. Just some idiots sitting around trying to find a way to steal money. Don't fall for it guys....
