- Elspeth replies to WhitneySee Tamianth's post above. These callers are scammers. Don't worry about them.
- MikeI have gathered information in regards to this company. They are operating out of a building that is on Lake avenue in Blasedale Ny. I have recieved a call several times from them and when I return the call I am told that I am being charged with a criminal complaint for writing a bad check. Here in Texas I would know if I had a bad check. I checked with my local authorities and they know nothing about this. South Town Recovery Group is run by same people that take payments under lineage group from what im reading on other blogs. I cant Seem to find any information on the license for this company except some Hamburg address. I have also been able to uncover some information from New York State Attorney Generals office and they are contacting former employees and current employees of the company for unfair and unethical business practices. They are building a case against the company quickly and have over 50 complaints logged.

- melonieI have no idea whether these people are scams or not. I can say that I do owe a payday loan, and the information that they have given me appears to be correct for the most part. The only thing that I am concerned with, is that many people have called my house trying to recoup funds off of the same account. Another things that concerns me is that after I researched this company, I could find no leads to their legitimacy.

- Catherine| 1 replyMy family has been receiving calls from this number. They even called my husband's ex wife harassing her! It is a woman claiming to be looking for me because I owed a payday loan. She said that criminal charges will be filed against me if they don't find me or settle with me. I called her back but when I asked for her extension the line went dead and when I called back a man answered and said she was away from her desk. Because I refused to pay the watered down one time settlement offer he said papers would be filed. She called family again today. I called and talked to her. When I raised my voice, she said don't call back and hung up. I made yet another all and got a man on the line. He said know who you are and she said don't call back here. He asked for my number and when I refused he said he would get it from caller ID. So why did he ask for my number then? He told me they use the same database as the FBI and John Walsh to find people. I said, so if you use that database then how come you haven't found me yet, only my family? He said if I paid my bills this wouldn't happen. He then said don't call back or he would report me for harassment lol. He stated that I would be served papers in 6 days and then he hung up on me.

- val replies to RobinI received the same exact message. Thanks for the info!
- Fernanda Lopez replies to Dannie50| 3 repliesThey are calling with threatening messages, in hoping to pique your interest so you will call back. If someone calls back they will ask your name, and to verify you address and social security #, and BINGO you have willingly given them the info they are seeking for identity stealing or whatever they can get out of you. Some people are really stupid!!

- Karla TelloI dont know who this is but they need to stop call me..
- Andi replies to DawnMarie BennettDawn first of all a real debt collector is NOT allowed to speak to anyone or discuss any information with anyone other than the person they are calling regarding. IF they do it is against the law! They started calling for me using a different phone number last Friday. Here are other phone numbers they use or ask you to call when they leave a message: 330-205-7460, 855-596-4228 (extension 314), 213-337-0014 AND 205-386-8040. How they got my information I have no idea. They claim they are calling from Credit One Collections (which I used to have a Credit Card through BUT when I had surgery last year in December and was hospitalized, I was unable to make anymore payments on my card and because it was maxed out they closed out the account and they wrote off the account which means they cannot collect on it anymore. So, I called the company back that has been harassing me since last Friday (this same company we are discussing in these posts). I gave them an ear full and I told them IF they continued to call me and harass me or any of of my family members or friends that I would be suing them and taking them to court because they are running a scam! They just called a few minutes ago asking for my Boyfriend he also has a Credit One account that got closed and wrote off so it can't be collected on either. I am going to tell him to do the same thing I did when he gets home today and call them and yell at them so they stop calling and harassing us.
- Andi replies to RobinThey are Scam Artists! The best way to get rid of them when they call ask for the person's full name that is calling you, ask what company they are with, ask for their complete address (they will more than likely give you a PO Box if they do that is okay at least you have something BUT try to get a physical address if possible). Then let them know that you have checked your credit report and that it is NOT on your credit and tell them they better stop the harassing phone calls because you will sue them and take them to court. Also let them know you will be reporting them to the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) AND FBI. Both have websites you can report this kind of stuff. IF we all report this they will eventually get shut down. This is what I did yesterday once I realized it was a total scam!

- AndiWell here is a new number they are calling from now. They called in a few minutes ago and I hung up when they answered. BUT, I called back and when the call answered it was a recording it says if you have been recently served a Court Summons from this office please hold on the line. So, I did just to find out who they are. They said they are looking for.......the person they are looking for is my Boyfriend. They said is he at this number. I lied and said no and they said thank you we will remove this number from our records. Now then when he gets home tonight I am going to have him call and do the same thing I did yesterday with the ones harassing me. Once he does that it will stop all the calls! There is 2 different phone numbers this new number is 949-398-2014 (Irvine, CA) number.

- KeishaI got a message from Kimberly Williams calling from the number 855-208-3463. She said that it was a pre litigation firm called Alliance and gave me a case number to use to reference my case when I call back. She also claimed that they were filing to the the clerk of courts where I had lived over a year ago and that I needed to set up payment arrangements or the papers would be filed. I have never been in this situation, so I called back and spoke to a woman named Ms. Sanchez who informed me that I needed to set up payments immediately or the papers would be filed. I told her I would call back after I spoke to my husband, so she gave me an extension number to call back. When I called back and put in the extension number, a recording said sorry for your trouble and it hung up on me. When I finally got through, I spoke to a guy named Robert. He has made threatening comments about turning it in to the courts and making me pay court fees along with fraud charges since I didn't pay. This sounds like it is a big scam and I am definitely turning them in.
