- Heated| 3 repliesAn unknown number calls through multiple times a day, with a recorded voice (very obviously computerized voice), claiming to be 'Jodie Pepper', and trying to reach a 'Sonya Lacey'. Each and every time, it states that it is the 'final attempt' and to "please return my call as soon as possible for proper delivery of these documentations", and has provided several false toll free numbers to call back. One is 1-855-208-5281, another is 1-855-208-2498. I have no idea who this is, nor do I know anyone by the names provided by the recorded computer generated message. I can block anonymous callers, but for some reason my phone company does not allow the blocking of 'unknown' numbers. This is well beyond out of hand with these scam calls, fake calls, etc!! So much for 'robodialing' being illegal!!! Beware these numbers!!

Um ... Robodialing IS (in many cases) illegal.
However, your seem to be too dense to realize that laws alone do not stop criminals.
Take a few hours to ponder the above statement.
Then, obtain a call blocker ... and try to learn how to use it effectively.

- BigA replies to AngelFirst, you should make a complaint at this Federal Agency, and while there you should also read up on how debt collection is supposed to work as well as what your rights in this matter are: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

- Not an idiotThese people have not only called me, they have called my brother and my fiancé asking for me. Stated the same thing as previously reported, they have documents they need to deliver, even as far as using the cash advance story, saying I took a cash advance in 2013. Don't even have a checking account!! She rattled off a bunch of fees, wanted me to verify my SSN. I told her I wouldn't do that without knowing exactly what this was for...she then said ok and hung up. SCAM!!!

- JudyThey have been calling me for my nephew. They are saying the same things and calling multiple times a day. I called them and said they had the wrong number. They were going to give me the information they were calling about. A legitimate company would never do that. They said they were a legal company that handled civil and commercial cases. I asked to be taken off of their list and they said it would take 24 hours for me to be removed.

In any event,
Just because someone on the phone calling you says you owe a debt does not mean you actually owe it.
If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:
1. Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
2. Demand a debt validation letter by US mail. E-mail no good.
3. Do not pay the collection agent or anyone else a dime until the debt is validated
Of course they won’t do this, no scammer ever will, so simply ignore them and block their calls.
If they are bothering you, report them:
http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection (Threatening civil proceedings with no intent to follow through, or threatening criminal process in order to collect a civil debt is a violation of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.) The same goes for endless telephone harassment
Note that the US Supreme Court in the Case of HENSON ET AL. v. SANTANDER CONSUMER USA INC., has recently ruled that the provisions of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act do not apply if the creditor owns the debt in question. As a practical matter this probably won't effect the kinds of scam debt collectors who often show up on 800notes. The scam collectors don't give you any information about themselves so it is impossible to know whether or not they in fact "own" the debt in question. Most do not send debt validation letters and many often say they are collecting for someone else. So, make the complaint anyway if they are bothering you. Let the FTC sort it out.
Also contact your local attorney general
If they continue to bother you, and you know you do not owe any money, tell them that you know this is a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion. Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved. Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.
You'll probably have to yell at them and talk over them.
You have to get tuff with these people because, being akin to thugs, brute force is (metaphorically speaking). the only thing they understand.- Caller: Informational post
- Angelica| 1 replygot a call from a "No Caller ID" on 10/26 , which was an automatic message stating that it was from "Jody Pepper" and they asked for me directly. Told me to call 855-210-2690 to give them correct info so they could send over legal documents to me. Spoke to someone going by the name of Gregory Murphy who worked for LSA Processing, stating that I am being sued by "The Cash Store" for a payday loan that was sent to collections on July 25, 2012 in the amount of $511.25 - that all collection efforts had been exhausted and that my file had been forwarded over to their office to proceed with legally suing me with the county clerk. This store front is not within 500 miles of me. "Gregory" stated that I would not have gone into The Cash Store, but one of their affiliates like Check n Go, or Speedy Cash. I called the corporate office for The Cash Store, and they informed me that they have gotten an influx of calls from people who are getting these calls, and that the scammers are targeting people in states that they don't service and that they are not suing anyone and they are not going out of business, nor do they have affiliate partners. I checked my credit report and this collection is not on my report, and every time I search for this company and phone number it keeps coming up as a scam. guy on the phone got very upset and condescending when I started asking for their physical address, their Bar ID and so forth, and kept repeating that the call was being recorded and I was being combative. Couldn't tell me any information or specifics on the case (kept stating that they don't have all the documents but "they will"), even when I asked to see the agreement with my signature on it from 2011 as well as the check I gave this supposed cash store, but kept yelling at me and telling me that he wasn't going to let me talk at all. I cancelled by debit card and told him that I was going to report him, and that if he wanted to sue me then he could do so and I will take it from there.
Other numbers that they have called me from include: 855-210-2960, 855-204-9760 and 205-605-9084
Now I am getting repeat calls from them, but they never say anything on the voicemail. woke up this morning to 6 voicemails with 2 minutes of silence. They have also called both my parents (I'm 27) and my ex spouse. These people are relentless. I have reported them to the CFPB, my state Attorney General's office, my local law enforcement and I have contacted our local news so they can make others aware of this scam.- Caller: LSA Processing
