Threatened with legal action over some case file I know nothing about. Did not leave a name of who they were.

Yes, I got the same thing too.  They left a voicemail and asked me to call back with a reference number.

Just got a call from these people. They sound sketchy and the threats they made were unwarranted.

What kind of threats? I had another company call and said something wasnt delivered so they want me to call.

Stated I was party to legal action

IF you were, you would NOT have a warning call.  Think SCAM & block the number.

Received a call stating it was urgent needed to call back regarding "documentation sent". They did not identify themselves and heard lots of chatter (?telemarketing) in the background.

I took care of a debt I had with them?

You don't know whether you did or you didn't?  I would have to say that if you paid them any money then you paid scammers/extortionists.

i had the same inappropriate overly threatening and violent experience with this number 1-855-223-2863 . they contacted me and left me a voicemail saying i needed to contact them urgently i had a pending legal case they needed to discuss with me and gave me a case/reference number to reference when calling them back. i returned their phone call only to be treated like a common criminal who they were gonna send to jail for a very long time.(there words not mine !!). all of this fuss and the horrible legal battle that i was about to endure was there way of trying to collect on a credit card debt they were claiming i owed from 2004. i explained to them that they must have the wrong person that i had never had a credit card with that name nor did i ever not pay my bills. that i had no outstanding bills from this year not alone an outstanding credit card balance from 2004. they preceded to tell me that they would be contacting the local sheriffs department and would have all evidence validating that this was an outstanding debt ans that it did absolutely belong to me. i proceeded to give them my accurate current address (which they did not have and were no were close too) and told them i looked forward to recieving my paperwork and once i did that my lawyer would be in contact with them to further investigate this matter and i gave them my lawyers name and number and told them all further calls would need to be through my lawyer in the future. needless to say that was over 3 months ago and i have never recieved any documentation nor have i heard from them again since the first intial call. i did however contact my local sheriffs office and asked them about the law office contacting them to serve me my debt verification papers and they said no they had not been contacted to do anything like that and that they had never heard of me and that they were a police station they didnt get contracted to do law offices clerical work and they preceeded to check out the names and buisness name and phone numbers they gave me and they were all fake and bull****. there was no such law office the numbers had been bounced thru so many routers  they were illegal and the case /reference number was not a court case file number or anything to do with my states legal system or law practices. so please dont be fooled and intimidated by these people ..rule number one to always remember when dealing with debt collectors they have to by law prove you owe that debt and that it is yours . plus little tidbit to keep in mind in order to take you to court over debt collections they have to have your original signature page(no photo copies allowed.)..they must have the original document to present in court from when you accepted the credit card or whatever the debt may be from the burden of proof is theres to make so make them do their jobs and dont just give someone money bc they threaten you or terrorize you ..know your states credit laws and know your rights.

All I can say is its a bunch of scammers trying to prey on innocent people who dont know any better.  I received mine on a little yellow postcard by way of the U. S. Mail saying they wanted to discuss my recently closed mortgage and there was an important matter they needed to discuss with me.  Well scammers, I dont have and never have had a mortgage you [***].
