It is RSA Medical, who provide underwriting services to BC/BS TX as explained by Michelle in a prior post.  I called them back just so they would take me off the call list.  Took less than a minute.  Told them I already understood the plan and that we had the same plan before -- just switched to the ACA Exchange version of the plan.  They said that was all the info they needed, thanked me, wished me a nice evening and hung up.  (I assume that since we had our insurance though BCBS before, they have all the medical info they want on file already.)

It's Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas about my new insurance plan/deductible/cost effective usage, possible up-selling.(No Thanks).  Additionally gathering info about past illnesses, time missed from work, prescriptions, chronic illnesses, operations, planned operations, height & weight, race/ethnicity. They wanted permission to access my medical info stored in various insurance databases supposedly only for the past 2 years. NO thanks even though it's revocable in writing.

They are NOT Blue Cross of Texas. They are an outside company asking lots of personal health questions that is none of their business. I was suspicious when they started asking questions BCBS should already know. Dont give these jokers permission or any of your personal information.

Ticked off BCBS TX Customer replies to Michelle
Thanks for revealing that it is RSA Medical.

Having been a BCBS TX customer before this year, it was surprising to hear these people who CLAIM they are BCBS TX ask questions they should ALREADY KNOW the answer to - from prior year records and from my application.  Anyone asking you for info that they should already have in the organization is a sure red flag of a scam.

I've called BCBS TX directly (using their web site customer number) twice to find out if this is legit or a scam.  Both times I got handed off multiple times and eventually THEY dropped the call (after long periods of being on-hold) - about 45 minutes spent each time.  Best they could come up with on one call was that it was regarding a recent bill - no way - these calls predated that, I told them.  Nothing else they could come up with and hence the transfers and long holds.

If it is not immediately known by the BCBS TX customer service folks, you can bet it is either a scam or best case, just not necessary.  These guys are flagged to not answer on my caller id.

Now I know it is RSA Medical...thank you.

I signed up via the Marketplace for BCBS of TX health insurance on Dec 13, 2014.  On Dec 30 I got a call (v-message) from this #, in my case saying "calling on behalf of BCBS of TX" and that "it's important that we speak with you."  I also feared something shady, so I called the number on the back of my BCBS insurance card -- and they said they had no idea what the call might have been; they checked my account and assured me that everything was in order, my wife and I are covered, and our payments are current; they also suggested that I call the Marketplace to see if they had any idea of what the mystery call might be -- I did, and the Marketplace folks did some checking and also had no idea.  Bottom line, it seems as if the folks who are saying you can ignore this call are likely right.

I got a call from this number but called directly to BCBS to see who these people were. BCBS person told me it was RSA and that I "probably should call RSA or the Marketplace because they might need more information". When I asked why the BCBS person hung up on me. From what I am seeing from earlier posts it appears they are just trying to get you to change from a PPO to something less expensive for BCBS.

They are NOT with BCBS.  They are just trying to get personal info from you.  It is a scam not the insurance company.
