- LISA| 1 replyI received a call from a local number of 501-232-4164 she stated her name was stewart, which i found strange, she stated that i took out a loan and that i was getting served at my job. I told her to give me a number to call her back , she gave me 1-855-262-9091. I TRIED CALLING BOTH NUMBERS and could not get anyone.

- librarylover01 replies to LISAI just got a call from the same lady today--Tammy Stewart--IT IS A SCAM!! The said I took out a loan over email and they had a very old email address!! She also called frrm a local number but gave me the 855 # to call back. She claimed she was calling from the local county courthouse where I lived and that I was about to be served papers for check fraud!! I knew it did not sound right--so after further questioning she admitted she had noting to do with the court house. I asked for her address so I could send a DO NOT CALL letter --in Bountiful , Utah!! I looked up the address and it is a UPS store's address!! DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION OR MONEY!!
- Scammed| 1 replyA person calling herself mrs Stewart left a message on my daughter's answering machine claiming that she had a warrent out for my arrest and I had better call her. She apparently did not have my number so my daughter gave it to her! My little grand-daughters heard this and were crying!! My husband insisted that I call and I tried to tell him that it was a scam but he wouldn't listen. He insisted that I give them money so I wouldn't be arrested even though I had not borrowed money on line. My husband is stupid about scams and now I have had to change all bank account info and passwords and notify everyone .....payments on auto pay, social security and retirement benefits....it is a nightmare! IT IS A SCAM
- Tamianth replies to ScammedPlease have your husband read these articles below.. Further more, no one can touch SS or SSD short of the Federal government and that is only for back tax's or child support and even at that, they can only take a tiny bit. You can not be arrested either for owing a debt, its a civil matter, not criminal and they can't even prosecute for checks on a payday loan.

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans
Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010 FBI National Press Office
(202) 324-3691
The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.
According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.
The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims’ relatives, friends, and employers.
