- DB| 1 replyThompson left voicemail regarding check fraud, citing case number 51197. When I called the phone number, got a message saying "your call cannot be completed as dialed. Please check the number and dial again"
- SophiaI am receiving phone calls for the second time around from a "Mr Jones" . He is telling me that I will be served with court papers because I am being citied for something. I believe this is the same man I spoke to a month ago who wanted me to give him my debit card to pay for a loan I supposedly took back in 2007. I asked him for proof of this loan and he told me I would be serve in 30 minutes. I never got served but now this number is calling again. I don't know what to do. It is kind of scary because this man has so much information of mine. :(
- Me| 2 repliesThis is the call back number I have been given for a company they are calling CCS. First I get a call on my cell phone and the man/woman (they have now called twice and the woman said her name was Ms. Jarvis) says they are a process server out of St Clair County Michigan. They say they are going to serve me with papers and I will have to go to court on 4 "serious" charges on a payday loan they claim I took out in 2007, all done over the internet, according to them. Well, I didn't even live in Michigan in 2007. The process server refuses to give me any information but immediately transfers me to "Michael Lee" who works for CCS, who tells me he can make the charges go away if I pay him $1010.25 immediately over the phone on my credit card. The first time they called I almost did it, but thought better of it and started doing some research. What I found over the weekend was a lot of scams matching exactly this pattern, even some from "Michael Lee". Needless to say I didn't call him back. They called again yesterday (which is odd since he told me I had to pay him within 10 minutes when he called last Friday or he was going to send the process server right away... :) I don't live anywhere near Port Huron, Michigan anymore) I told him that I wasn't going to pay him over the phone since I had found so much pointing to him being a scam and I asked him to email me paperwork. He actually emailed me a letter, typed in word that anyone could have written. I researched the address and there is no such company listed at this address. Google maps shows a McDonalds at the location. The first time they called the number showed restricted. The second time they called it showed an 810 number, which is Port Huron and when I researched this I found it is the number for Central Dispatch. After I got the first call on Friday I called the St Clair County Sheriffs Department and left a message for a dectective there, who conveinently returned my call right after Michael Lee called me yesterday morning, and he told me not to bother wasting my time talking to anyone else until I ran my credit report because if they had any claim at all it would show up on that under civil claims and also as a negative report (what a surprise there wasn't anything there). Last evening my fiance called the 810 central dispatch number back and talked to one of the deputies there who said that there is no way that a call would come from them. First of all, their number wouldn't show up as that ever as they are a 911 dispatch center, and secondly there is no one named Jarvis there and they don't dispatch process servers. Now we are waiting for a call back there from the Detective because the law enforcement agencies are very interested in who is using their phone number to commit fraud. A little more research after that call brought me the knowledge that it is very easy to get an application on your cell phone that will display your phone number on other peoples caller id as whatever you want.
I don't plan to answer any more calls from these scammers... and I hope that the research that I put into this can help anyone else who gets calls from them.- Caller: CCS

- Nycki replies to DByou can't call them back from a blocked number or you will get that recording. The same thing happened to me.
- Nycki replies to Me| 1 replyThank you so much for all of this information. It has really helped me!
- Shirley replies to CandiceI just got a call from this number looking for my daughter. The number came up as "Private Number" and a woman spoke to me. Said this was about check fraud from a bank in Huron, SD where my daughter used to live and has been forwarded to her current county of residence. I, like you, don't know what to do. It doesn't affect me directly, but it frightens me for my daughter. Is this number legitimate or not?
- Me replies to NyckiGlad it helped, I don't want them to steal other people's hard earned $$ or cause anyone else the stress they caused me. They picked the wrong girl with me, I know a bit about getting information on the computer and I tend to get a annoyed at people who try to take advantage of others through threats and intimidation. Just so everyone knows... all research I found says that even if you took out a loan with these creeps and didn't pay it back they CANNOT put you in jail for not paying a payday loan. It's a civil matter, we don't have debtors prisions in the USA. However, it is illegal for them to threaten you like that. Good luck and God Bless!
- travelcatYup, me too - only they got the wrong name, my number but the name he gave is not me. It was clear the guy ("Case Investigator Jones" - how original) was reading from a script - he was going so fast it was hard to understand. Same sort of threatening tone, only "check fraud", and that the person would be served at home and their place of work. Unlucky for them, I also check this stuff out though "Me" has saved me a lot of work - thanks!

- Baltimore AreaA Chief Investigator Harris called my sister's cell from a "restricted" number and left a threatening message saying he had an affidavit on his desk and a summons would be served to her at work and home. He asked that she call him back at 855-269-8388. My sister called me and was hysterical thinking someone was accusing her of something she didn't do. After talking to her, I googled the area code and found these postings saying the whole thing was one big scam. (Thanks for those who posted!) It did save us alot of time and trouble. If there is a matter serious enough for someone to summons you to court, they won't be leaving a voicemail to let you know. If you are having papers served to you, they want to find you in person and hand deliver them, or get a signature of receipt through the mail. Hopefully they catch these scammer soon before they cause trouble for anyone else. :)
