I got call every morning but no answer and it's ridiculous     Have to call company to stop it

I'm so annoyed at this caller! Call three times in one hour....

Very rude, pushy, and made you make promises despite stating you can not make extra payments. Call their home office and don't let the representative named Arsen take on your case.

This phone continues to phone my cell.  would like it stop.

called me twice today.  dead air on one voice message.  no voicemail on other.  I missed both calls.  I tried to ring back and it said "person at extension 3 is not available"

Modern technology has given telespammers the tools to call you.
Lawbreaking telescammers ignore both the Do Not Call list and any request you might make.

Modern technology can also protect you, if YOU do a few simple things!
The most effective thing to do is to get a call blocking device, service or app.
Then, use it correctly.

Google "call blocker" for more information.  There are available apps (some free) for smart phones, and services and devices for landlines.

If you cannot use or afford such a tool, then:

• Do not answer calls from unknown numbers ... let them go to voicemail or answering service.  Telespammers usually hang up after 3 or 4 rings.

• Do NOT return calls from unknown numbers!  All that does is verify your phone number, and make it more valuable to more spam groups!  And, in some cases, those return calls may cost $20 or more to complete. If the incoming call was important, they would have left a message!

• If you have a "dumb" cell phone, assign the scammer's number to a group named "scam" (or similar).  Then, assign a silent ringtone to that group. (This also works for smartphones).  The spammer will usually hang up before the phone goes to voicemail.

• Another option, for cell phones:  Assign a "silent ringtone" as DEFAULT.  Then, assign your favorite ringtones to all known friends / family / business numbers.  That way, you will hear rings ONLY from those you wish to contact!  You will not hear scammers' rings, even if they change their number!  (This is also called "whitelisting", and will cause you to miss calls from non-whitelisted numbers).

can the police do anything?  they wont tell me why they are calling.  they call me and ask for my information.  everyday.  everyday for the last two months and when i ask for their information and get put onto the supervisor who still insists on my information and I resist to give it to the [***] (who calls herself a supervisor) is crazy - she is obnoxiously rude and starts yelling at me.  i hangup at this point.

Here are some tried and true methods for reducing or eliminating repeated spam / scam phone calls:

1.  Do not answer the phone if you see an unknown number on your Caller ID ... let it go to answering machine or voicemail.  Many telescammers hang up after three or four rings.

2.  If you have a smartphone, get one of the inexpensive or free call blocker apps at your online app store, and learn how to use it.

3.  If your cell is not "smart", read the manual to learn how to set up a "group".  Assign the scammer's phone number to that group.  Also assign a "silent ring" to that group.  You will not hear future calls from that number.

3a.  Alternately, assign a "silent ringtone" as the DEFAULT ringtone.  Then, assign your favorite ringtones to friends, family, contacts, businesses, etc.  That way, you will not hear your phone ring, even if the scammer changes numbers!   (This is also called "whitelisting", and will cause you to miss calls from non-whitelisted numbers, so be careful!)

4.  For cell phones or landlines: Contact your phone service provider.  They may have a facility or method to allow you to block numbers.

5.  For landlines: there are several call blocking devices and services available.  Use your favorite search engine to find one.

6.  DO NOT call unknown numbers back without checking who called (800notes is your friend)! All that does is verify your number is "live".  Instead, read this:
