- Angela Riden| 2 repliesMy computer has a terrible virus in it. It has for weeks. I cant get any work done for all the pop ups with an anti virus running. Today it froze up and sounded like a car alarm so i called the number on the screen...and paid them. They have been in my files for an hour. But all they are doing is deleting the virus names i kept seeing by my antivirus.
The number was 855-284-0500 but i called them...they didnt call me.
Ill let yall know if anything bad happens. So far...sogood though.- Caller: tech support 24/7
- Slim replies to Angela Riden| 1 replySince the scammers accessed the computer, they probably did one or more of the following:
• Disabled the anti-virus software
• Added nasty malware to the computer
• Copied the Contact List (so they can email your soon-to-be ex-friends)
• Copied any financial data or passwords they could find
• Compromised the ID
• "Zombied" the computer, so it would respond to THEIR commands sent via internet
• Deleted some important files
• Asked for money to repair the damage they caused
What can you do immediately after such an attack?
1. Pull the cables on the computer, so it cannot access the internet.
2. Change ALL passwords stored on the computer
3. Run FULL malware scans on the computer, in "SAFE" mode!
4. Change the passwords again, particularly if the malware scans showed anything
5. Inform your bank and credit card companies
6. Sign up for credit monitoring, and check the status frequently
7. You may have to bring the computer to a local repair shop, and tell them the story.
8. Tell friends what happened, so they can be aware of strange emails from you
9. Plug in the cables only AFTER all the above have been done
10. Change the passwords on all online accounts. Even better - access a "safe", uninfected computer, and chance your online account passwords RIGHT NOW.

of calls from these scammers to fix it. This is one of them >> I can hardly understand THEIR
INDIAN ACCENT. (Asian Indian)
I cant stand them. When I worked in a High Tech companies in Silicon Valley, the companies hired bunch of INDIAN contractors. They were supposed to teach employees all the tehcnical work they are performing for us; but they dont. They did everything without showing employees how, so they can keep getting contract work and getting paid high hourly pays. HOWEVER, if they didt understand or knew how to do certain technical work or how to do certain things they will bug you to death to teach them. Many seemed to know how to work the systems and now they are all working as managers or specialists FULL TIME in SIlicon Valley ...and many of them are PC Support with bad accent haha.
Oh this one told me that I was an IDIOT!!! .. such nerve!!!
Well, I know that not all Indian people are bad and I still work with some of them now.I'm not by any means racist, However, those that left a bad taste in my mouth.. I seems to remember them..- Caller: 247pcsupport.co

- MJG replies to Kay| 1 replyDid you give them remote access to the computer?? If not - no problem. If yes - run a virus/malware scan NOW and keep an eye on your contact list & banking information. Have a local certified professional check the unit. There is NO way a cold caller can tell that you have a computer problem.

- Judy| 1 replyI had a phone number pop up on my computer just this past Saturday. The pop up also had a chat session, but after trying to chat with the rep, I was instructed to call the number. It was Apple Help and they told me I was only getting their phone number because my computer had a virus on it--they later told me it had Trojan horse type of virus. They are a third-party support company for that Apple uses. There was a tab that read, "VIRUS FOUND" every time I booted up. Their tech said type in www.fastsupport.com which I did, they gave me a 6-digit number to type in the field on the next page and said it would allow them to gain remote acces to my computer. Since my computer was crashing anyway, I typed in the 6-digit code. The technician brought up screens showing me that there were foreign users on my computer, and that the firewall had been turned off, which I know I did not turn off. Later on, I spoke to another technician who had remote control of my computer. I know because I watched him moving my cursor around. He deleted a malicious app, called MacKeeper, which I believe gave my computer the virus as I was in the process of purching their antivirus software when the VIRUS FOUND message popped up. Long story short, my computer has been fixed, cleaned up, a previous user removed which I requested. Yes, I had to pay them $100. They wanted $149, but I said no--could not do that. The $149 would include a year's worth of additional support if anything else happened to the computer. They gave me that additional support for the $100 I paid. The technician has also called me a second time to ask how the computer was performing. I am happy with the result. They gave me the above phone number, 855-284-0500, to call them back with any other issues. I had a good experience with them. I also requested and will receive a refund of the MacKeeper antivirus software I almost purchased. The credit card company blocked this transaction from completing and said the website was suspicious. I've already received an email confirmation on the refund. This was a separate transaction from Apple support.
