This number called me at 8:34am on a Friday, with "Anonymous" in the caller ID. I did not pick up, and no message was left.
1. I am on the "Do Not Call" list, so if it's a business calling, I consider it a scam.
2. I do not donate to charities who call me by phone, especially at 8:30 in the morning. It's a scam.
3. "Anonymous"? *really*? It's a scam.

This may be Hightower Investments or Hightower Advisors. They are financial planners.

As such, they do not do any telemarketing, they only call existing clients, or by referral only? Not a scam. I can personally recommend them, and have several family members who use them. Their reputation is impeccable.

Caller ID was "Toll Free Call" as 1-855-284-3980.

Came up with "Private Home".  This and early morning call.  This is a scam from an unknown source.

Apparently Hightower's number has been hijacked because I just got a call from them and I don't know this business and I'm assuming no one referred them, since I know nothing about them. Call came at 12:30 pm today.

We got a call from this number today 12/20 at about 1:30 P.M.     We don't answer them and they left no message.  We get at least 5 of these annoying calls a day and we are on the DOC list.

I called back the number 855-284-3980 which said "toll free caller" on my caller ID readout.  The phone outgoing message says it is the American Institute for Cancer Research.  We have gotten calls from them from other similar numbers.  We neither answer calls from unknown and out of town numbers, nor do we EVER donate to telephone charity solicitations.  My current phone service allows me to block up to 20 calls from specific phone numbers.  Unfortunately, I am out of numbers I can block....

As everyone else - but YOU - have said - this is a SCAM.  This is a number in a SERIES that have called us RELENTLESSLY since 12/17/14.  They have called nearly every day from:

855-284-4824
855-284-4823
and now today's number, 855-284-3980.
Suspect they are ALSO behind the calls from:
857-362-8303 and
530-421-6752 who have also called in this time frame.

LEGITIMATE Businesses do NOT do this!

We have answered NONE of them and have either let them go to ans. machine OR have picked up/hung up w/o answering to break the call - and THEN WE BLOCK the number.
They have responded by constantly changing the numbers and calling at various times of the day, as if they are testing which times we are home.  Today's call, at 9:19AM on a HOLIDAY (Christmas Eve Day; all household members are off work today) awakened a sleeping household.

Suspect ALL are connected to the **FILTHY** Rich REYNOLDS FAMILY Group of SCAM ''charity" calls which are ALL TOTALLY BOGUS and are designed only to FURTHER ENRICH THEMSELVES to the benefit of NO ONE ELSE.
Google "Reynolds Family Charity Scam" to see for yourself.  This one I believe is one of their FAKE cancer charities or one of their FAKE Veterans' Charities.

This is  a BOGUS 'charity.'  It DOES NO RESEARCH.  They simply REPUBLISH things that others have published and distribute that as their own.  So, they are plagiarizers AND they basically STEAL the money 'donated' to ENRICH ONLY THEMSELVES.

They have a 1 out of 5 rating on Charity Navigator.org.

Received a call with no msg. from 855-284-3980.  We have received calls from this org on other numbers as well. Based on this thread we will block this one too.

Same scenario here- this 855-284-3980 calls as late as 9pm and early as 8:25am. Never leaves a message.

Got a call from this number today around 1:30pm.  I answered only to disconnect the call, then put it on my blocked list.  I suggest as other here have this is a charity scam.

Bobcat,  don't pick up when they call. They will continue to pester you.

They call every day, several times a day, and we never answer it.

Have you tried calling the number back? I called and it told me the number was for cancer research? But it seems every time they call there is never an actual person, it's just silent. Getting very sick of it. I called 1-888-382-1222 and got our number on the do not call registry, hopefully that helps.

Calls everyday at all hours. Its a real shame these people make it impossible for real charities to get donations. They are messing with real people whom has real problems.

Yep. Got this bogus number again today, we have a home/ business phone. I hate bring pulled of working projects, so we have the answering machine on isn't of the time. I have been occasionally answering with our company's name and usually scams and fakers click off. Not These guys! The asked for me by name- which source did they use to get it? It is an unusual guest name.  Obviously, I was Out of the Office!! And will no longer answer them... Grrrr!!!

Please don't bother to place your name on the Do Not Call registry. There are no teeth in it. It stops No One.

I received numerous call from this number since Jan 1, 2015, over the weekend and also two today.  The last digits change from 4869, 4823, 3980 and all say "anonymous".  I've been trying to block them with no avail.
