    Scam of some type.

Said I had renewed my Week subscription in December and said they could process it today at the old rates and wanted to know if they could charge
    to the Visa card.  I

I said cancel and I would submit a renewal later.  They indicated the new rates would be an additional 109.00 I could pay be check or give them a new credit card number.

I checked my records and I hadn't renewed because my subscription doesn't expire until 2015.

Got a call today, a, (Teri), lady said I owed $525 for economist magazine and $264 for US weekly.
Claimed we had sent in an order by mail in March.
We were supposed to call 855-291-8628 extension 227 by Friday or the price will go up.
I get our magazines through Amazon and never use automatic renewal.
My economist is good through next February and we don't get US News weekly!
This appears to be a scam.

Got a call pressuring me to renew a subscription to The Atlantic. I haven't received a magazine in two months, my subscription is lapsed. They claimed I sent in a car for a renewal of three years and that I had to give them my card today or the prices would go up the next day to something outrageous like $250.

The person on the call was extremely rude and high pressure, eventually hanging up on me. When I told them I hadn't sent in a card to renew my subscription they said "Well, welcome to America...". Ha!

I called The Atlantic directly and they confirmed that my subscription is lapsed and they don't call customers directly and that they also don't have any magazine offers that would be anywhere near that expensive.

Even if I had renewed it, I would have done it through discountmags.com when there was a deal going on where I could get it renewed for $5 a year.

    Scam.

This is a scam.  They say there is a problem with a magazine subscription--in my case THE ATLANTIC and THE NEW YORKER-- and ask for your credit card information.  Don't give it to them.  Both subscriptions were paid up.  Neither magazine employs such a service.
