I clicked on a cat video in a Facebook and got a fake Microsoft screen saying that my computer was infected, etc. This was the number it gave for me to call immediately for tech support. When I looked up the number, the first Google listing was an "800Notes.me" page, which was a "closed for maintenance" page in French. The "me" suffix is Montenegro - not a French-speaking country. So much for Facebook...

    800notes.com is very popular.
Visitors can get a LOT of information here.
Some websites try to emulate 800notes.com, by "scraping" the content from here, and posting it on their sites, or by using very similar names, such as the one you mentioned.

Here is a little info on that site:
Web site is hosted by CloudFlare, Inc., USA - California
Mail Server is hosted by IP Pool for Iliad-Entreprises Business Hosting Customers, France
The creator of the domain is not shown ... that data is protected by a company in Australia.
    Domain was created on 7/17/2015
    Domain expires on 7/17/2016

So, it will probably disappear in a few months.

I guess "beware of imitations" is a good thing to remember.

Cloudflare is a company which provides SSL and other services to speed up page load times. I use it for my blog and my family business websites. whoishostingthis.com is good to check to see who the host is but because people can use their own nameservers created from a domain which they already own we don't know what the truth is.

Most sites like this have scrape shield built in. I've accidentally gone to 800notes.me and got really mad.
I do like one other called thedirtyphonebook.com because I can upload a picture. No one else does that and it makes exposing a scammer, EASY.

My mom clicked on a cat video on Facebook and a pop-up warning came on the screen, saying the computer was damaged & it gave a phone number to call Microsoft tech support (855-300-1434).  Not only was there a pop-up on the screen, it also had a loud female audio voice saying that the computer was severely damaged and to call Microsoft Tech Support at the number provided. The audio warning was obviously on a loop and kept repeating until we shut down the computer.  Wow... a new take on an old scam.
