- Jeff's cousin| 2 repliesUtterly vile people. Total scammers. Screamed at me and made up complete BS. Tried to pass themselves off as a legal firm, but they aren't. Really abusive and nasty. They were actually looking for someone else who I think used to use this number, but she called me back after I asked to be removed and went into another tirade asking me to prove it. I assume it's a debt collector of some sort. Really nutty people. I feel sorry for anyone who is so desperate they have to do this kind of a thing for a living.
- Caller: Steven Martin or someone else.

- userreceived a call for a debt collection called Greg and associates (could not find anything about them). The lady on the other end was one of the most awful people I've ever had the misfortune of taking to. they claim I owe money when I have never even put money in a bank before. Total scam.

- Jeff GatewoodThey call you with an unknown number and leave this number to call them back. She gave a case number saying she was with Greg and Associates and says paperwork is in the process of being file against you tomorrow. Called me at 6:30 AM and I called her back stating, "Do you know what time it is here?" Tried to bluff me with sternness, told her "lady zip it... do you know what time it is here?" She then hung up! Total scammer!!!

- GypsyContacted my ex husband, we've been divorced 22 years, looking for me. Left this number & said she's with Legal Verification Dept and a case number. Due to the posts on here I didn't bother calling back. Thanks for sparing me the wasted time & from these reports verbal abuse
- CCSame thing for me. They just called my work number. Called Monday also and left a message. Message said the person is Ashley White with the legal verification department (of what company she did not say and caller id was listed as Anonymous Caller) calling to notify me that my complaint will be executed in the system this afternoon due to non compliance, that this documentation has been sent out to my property address and if I have any further questions or concerns regarding this complaint feel free to contact the filing firm directly at (855) 300-3770 and when calling in reference a particular file number that was a six digit number provided.
Thank you for your posts to this site. I hesitate to call back after reading what happened with some of you. I also tried to find out what firm is calling since they don't identify themselves. No luck.- Caller: Ashley White

- MD replies to Jeff's cousinI had a girl call (Ashley) and said she was with Nation Co Processing and said she processes the paperwork for Greg & Associates and to call 855-300-3770. She had to verify that I will be home this Friday for papers to be served. I said we'll be at services. So I wonder now if they wanted to see if I will be home. LOL - we won't, but my BGF will! I don't think they wanna see them. So I asked Ashley, who are you with again? She says Nation Co Processing. Located where? In LA. And what is YOUR phone number? (She hangs up!) Thx for posting your comment. I had a fishy feeling about this caller calling me as "Unknown Caller"...
- JoshMsg left with name that was not clear and a file number I was given the last 4 numbers of an account that was supposed to be from 8/9 years ago that they had no info on, asked for info was told going to court next morning and filing a garnishment same day with employer, at a company that has been out of business since 2010. Repeatedly called me back and I told them to send me all the info they had, they yelled at me to pay my debts and hung up.
- Caller: Left no company name
- Call type: Debt collector
- Briantotal a***oles, tried tricking me into admitting certain info and also refused to identify who they are just "a law office" "corporate offices".

- BigA| 1 replyWhenever someone tells you that they are a "lawyer", the first question you should ask is what state(s) they are registered in and their BAR number for that/those state(s). Then go to that state and check them out, contact them directly using the information in the state registration, as these crooks have been known to research real law firm names and attorney names and impersonate them.
Criminals are masquerading as debt collectors in an attempt to extort money from people by scaring them into believing that:
a. You are going to be sued and it will cost you lots of money when they allegedly “win” their case.
b. That they are about to file criminal charges or that you will be criminally charged (they use the bad check or hot check claim a lot) and go to jail, even though debt is civil not criminal, there are no criminal charges, and debtor’s prison was outlawed over 200 years ago.
c. That they will take away your driver’s license.
d. That will garnish your wages without actually being suing you, going to court, or even winning a case and obtaining a judgement followed by a judge’s consent to the garnishment. They also claim that your wages will be garnished in amounts far above all legal limits.
One of the tricks they use is to call your family, friends, neighbors and/or places of employment (past or present or both) to create panic and embarrassment so that their intended victim calls them and they can scare that person into paying their extortion money. They often call people that have never even been associated with you because they get erroneous information off of the internet.
They will use the words “Mediator”, “Arbitrator”, “Law Office” or claim that they are a “Lawyer or Paralegal” to make you believe that they are something other than a debt collector want-a-be and that they don’t have to follow Federal and State collection laws, even though they do have to follow those laws. They also tell you that if you fail to call them back you are "waiving your right to council" or that “the case will proceed without you” which is pretty much nothing but hogwash. They tell you that they need a “statement” from you regarding the complaint and if you don’t call back they “wish you good luck as things unfold”. They use the phrase “consider yourself notified/served” or “govern yourself accordingly” a lot, something they should do themselves.
They claim they are officers of the court, or that an officer will accompany them, or even that they are sending officers to arrest you. All hogwash. They are now also claiming that they will be in an “orange vest” and they tell you to lock up your dogs and guns for “everyone’s” protection. More hogwash.
They mention that they have received a Fax document, to create the sense of urgency and tell you that they are a “process server”. This is simply ruse to get you to call another number (with a made up case number) where they will ask for money to “make it go away” (this is actually the same place, they work in teams, one pretending to be the server, and the other usually pretends to be a lawyer). They threaten to serve you at home or at work. They tell you that if they serve you at work they need a supervisor, security, or HR person there as a witness, hoping that will cause you to panic over the alleged embarrassment of being served at work. They also tell you that you will need two forms of ID. None of which is true. Process servers do not ever call ahead so that you can dodge them. Process servers get paid to serve papers, nothing else. They certainly are not going to pass up a paycheck by telling you that you can avoid being served, they are not going to give you an extra day or even a few hours to get a “stop order”. Court documents are time sensitive and have to be served within a certain amount of time. Remember that you can always call the local courthouse to see if there is actually a lawsuit that has been filed against you.
If your feel you SSN has been compromised, in addition to putting a fraud alert at the 3 credit bureaus, you may want to notify the IRS. Here is the link, fill out the proper form (probably 14039). Also file a report at the FTC Identity Theft web site as well as learn what else you need to do:

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it. You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
First, you should make a complaint at this Federal Agency, and while there you should also read up on how debt collection is supposed to work as well as what your rights in this matter are: https://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

- I.Knw.BetrCalling from blocked number. Said in message he was Ira Rosenthal. "We have tried multiple times to contact you at multiple addresses." Now comes the scare tactics......We are left with no choice but to move forward with "this" "Documents will be served at your place of business" I dont think so, and even if you do, they ARE NOT VALID. More desperate scare tactics....."You have until tomorrow to get in touch with us" Your case number is blah blah blah. More desperate attempts to sound official with "case numbers" and the like. Oh please, go do whatever you want to do. I know my credit and I know what I owe and if you "claim" I owe then its from over 10 years ago minimum and Im under no obligation legal or otherwise to pay. Nor do you have any power to make me do so. These people and their ilk must hate the Internet and the way we can now easily inform ourselves, in seconds of anything on our credit reports. Whomp, whomp. Just ignore them

- MJG replies to Harold DotsonYou won't receive any documentation - because there is none. Emails are NOT official notification. Read BigA's post above yours and show it to your employer. It is also illegal to claim to be an attorney if they are not licensed. Give your state attorney general call too.
- wary replies to Jeff's cousinCalled looking for a relative and made it sound like they were affiliated with the courthouse. Beware!
