- mary| 2 repliesCalled my work, left a voice mail, talked to one of the assistants also and left a message which gave out personal information and then proceeded to tell them he was serving me with a court summons and how to proceed through security at my work. left a case number also. Found out it was Allstate Mediation to collect unpaid payday loan to Ace Cash Express. They used Lockwood Locators who I am promptly filing a complaint against with Texas Attorney General because they asked an assistant how to get through security to serve papers and then left a message with my name and case number and that they were serving me a court summons. Jerks. I called the 855 number left and the people were very helpful. I told them I would have paid it before now but access to the web page had been blocked on ace cash express' part.

- greeneyz| 1 replyWas called @ 1200pm today... By a Robert Allen, stating he had a file of charges claimed against me but wouldnt say what they were for. Gave me a file # to reference when calling the 855-693-3682 # and said that if I did not call soon to remedy the matter that there would be paperwork sent to me at my place of residence or place of employment. They said I would go to court if I didnt respond and that the phone call was my formal notice of the processes being put forth. He never said the name of the company the debt was from, nor did he say the name of the company he was with, or the name of the company that I was to call regarding the matter. At 8pm tonight I called the number on the message left on my phone and whenI called, the voiceservice said it was Allstate Mediation and to enter an extension if known or "0" for the operator. I pressed "0" and was led to a voicemail box stating the persons were away from the desk or busy at the moment, and to leave a message with teh file# and contact number and they would return the call the next business day. Now by law, they have 5 days to mail a letter to me stating what its all about but by reading statements from other people, they do not send anything to anyone until you give them bank account information.. Some people say they were taken to court and garnished the wages for the debts not paid, others say the company is fake and that no one should believe what is being "said" as they are a scamming company that doesnt have any jurisdiction to do anything... I google the company and nothing comes up but the complaints made on other sites.. I have no problem paying bills (when i can afford to) but I wont give out personal information, especially bank info to anyone... I will send you money when I can, you are not going to take it from me before I get to know why you are calling me... I am curious as to how valid these threats were....

- COncerned and filing with the TN AGNationwide was the company noted in the message. Given a case reference number and when called it turned out they were trying to serve me with some sort of papers. However, when they listed the address it was an address in a southerner state in which I have never lived.
SCAM is written all over this attempt to collect information. Be careful and inform you AG's office if they contact you.- Caller: 1-855-300-9509

- INFORMED| 3 repliesIF you had a debt that some [***] purchased for pennies on the dollar thinking that he can get more money out of you, guess what...THAT DEBT IS PAID! You DO NOT have a contractual obligation to them as a new creditor. THEY PAID YOUR DEBT WHEN THEY BOUGHT IT! You DID NOT sign any agreement with them! DO NOT GIVE ANY OF YOUR INFO to them!

- Been There replies to greeneyzFirst of all, a phone call is in no way a legal "formal notice of a process being put forth"." which is the first indication that this may be a 3rd party debt collector trying to collect on a debt that has past the Statute of limitations by using scare tactics. Everything MUST be in writing...2nd, a process/summons server, rarely, if eve,r calls and gives the person a heads up that they are coming...they just show up. The element of surprise is a servers method of operation. DO NOT GIVE bank account information over the phone. If you feel the need to return a call....ask them to send a letter concerning this debt.. no ifs, ands or buts about it...that is your legal right which they must follow..that is the law!!! They know this, and should comply..if this is truly legit. 3rd...these debt buyers also monitor these sites to add comments(i.e., being taken to court, wage garnishment...etc.) that may make you believe this is legit..
Remember, there are real and legitimate debt collectors out there, however, they will do everything to follow the law by sending all information they have in writing, not by making phone calls and threatening with legal action. - ANON replies to INFORMED| 2 repliesYou are exactly right!
- TC replies to ANON| 1 replyI actually hired a lawyer, and he made that exact statement that "INFORMED" just posted. This was last year and I was so freaked out!! He told me to relax and explained the whole "contract" situation. In my case, it was a third party junk debt buyer trying to con/scare me into paying for a debt that was about 9 yeas old. Even though a debt has met the SOL (statute of limitations), and they know it, this will not prevent a junk debt buyer from trying to get a debtor to pay up using questionable tactics. And another thing, a process server does not call you/family member/employer and let you know they are coming. And if they do call a third party and reveal any information about trying to collect a debt , that is another law being broken. All they can ask your employer is basic information. I do not condone not paying debts, but there are laws put into place to protect the consumers from these predators that they MUST follow, just as there are laws to protect creditors that we must follow.
- TC replies to TCFYI-if you ever do receive a summons, do not ignore it, even if the debt has met the SOL. Junk debt buyers count on you not responding then you get stuck with all their legalbills plus the debt..etc. . Initially(in my situation) the collection agency(not the agency connected to this number) wanted me to pay thousands of dollars for an old deb(interest and penalties, SAY WHAT???), when I actually got the summons, the debt had dropped to only 700.00. Hired a lawyer for 200.00 and he did everything! Never had to go to court, he represented me, countersued, and they dropped the case. When a lawyer countersues, the collection agency has to show the court all the paperwork that they have on this debt..which they don't have, because as" INFORMED" indicated, legally, it has been paid, and the agency will have to reveal they are trying to collect on a debt that has et the SOL, hence, they drop the case. This was my situation, laws differ from state-to-state. Just a little information I wanted to share. I remember how they scared me, and I almost paid...I hate to read how they scare people, fleece them, and get away with it. I decided to fight back. Because I did, if there is ANYTHING out there, which I know there isn't, or it is so old I cannot remember, I will come up as a "litigious debtor"(there is actually a list)..in layman terms..I will fight for my rights!!! So bring it on! and they won't.
- MonicaCalling with a confidential, legally matter..... for my ex of 10 years ago. If it's so confidential I'd suggest a real person and not a robot giving out the details. 3 calls today$$!!! How can I stop this b.s.???

- Concerned in Ga.Have been continuously harassed by this number. At first it was Cooper Financial, LLC. Then, the same number, Filings and Claims for the State of Georgia. I have been threatened because I fell for the whole "if you don't take care of this, you will go to jail" speech I was initially given. I never received anything in writing from them even though I requested it. Please don't fall for this SCAM. Go back and read INFORMED's comment. That is the truth.

- Lou BurenTotal SCAM. The call and claim to be getting ready to serve you with legal papers for a court case. They use scare tactics and sometimes have your social security number. This is not a legit collections company. They are information fishers and should be ignored and reported to local law enforcement. And to the AG. Do not return their calls. They typically call from unknown or restricted numbers.
- Caller: They use many names.
