They sent me a text for an urgent notification that my Bank of America debit card has been locked and to call 847-754-4398.  I might have fallen for it if I had a BoA account.

I got the same text. Not returning their call as I'm not a B of A customer either.

Same thing...don't have a BoA account and got this: BankOfAmerica Urgent Notification to xxx-xxx-xxxx. Your DebitCard has been locked. Please call 8477544398 URGENT.

Please note that phone number 8477544398 - 847-754-4398 – is registered to Level 3 Communications, LLC which has received lawsuits and has been prosecuted by the federal government.

Also note that Mastercard and Visa are partly owned by BOA and BOA started both MC and Visa.

What I did - I just checked w/ my local banking service to see if there has been any unusual activity, alerts, or freezes on my card.

The bank did not find any unusual activity in my. They forwarded the text information, phone numbers listed on the text, and the message to their fraud department.

After that, I registered the two numbers related to the msg with the National Do Not Call Registry

My advice: First, don’t ignore this message. Call your bank and check first. If they say your account is fine, request that the info be forwarded to their fraud investigations. Second, go to the do not call registry and file a complaint.
