There has been a development. - Kong replies to Anyone| 1 replyI use Task Manager to force a closing, on the few times that I do it.
Is there also another way? - WolfEyes replies to KongI've gotten a few thank yous. It's all in how you word things. ;o)
- WolfEyes replies to KongYou are most welcome.
- WolfEyes replies to AnyoneNo need to force close the ones I've encountered. Doing so closes the whole browser, not just the tab. I usually have several tabs and programs open and I don't want to have to restore the tabs I need. So it's easier just to hit that little check box, close the popup and then the tab. Clearing history and cookies is just a safety precaution. I've found they don't pop back up even if I don't clear cookies as long as I do not return to the inactive website.
- WolfEyes replies to KongThere may not be for the ones you get. What I posted on page one works for the ones I get.
- RhiannonAttempted to open a new tab in Chrome to open a website I frequent regularly. As I opened the tab, I received a HUGE error message that advised me that my IP address had been blocked and that I needed to call 855-309-5435 to have my computer fixed.
I am a tech savvy person and knew that this was a fake warning, so I went in through task manager and closed out all instances of Google Chrome (4 tabs total) and forced closed the program. Upon re-opening my browser, I googled the number it told me to call, which brought me here to confirm my suspicions.

Scammers pretending to be from Microsoft fixing computers.

The message starts with:
pc-faiilure-hnyt3.pw. says:
