They're a scam operating out of New York. They tried telling me that I had an old debt (that I didn't have), and threatened to send a process server. That is illegal. I recommend you contact the NY State Attorney General office. Several companies have tried this in the past, once with me. It did not end well for them.

Number continuously calls (states their company name is "Liaison Services") and states they were contacted by the "department of legal services" and are going to serve my husband with a court date.  They ask if he is going to be home at a certain time on a certain day and I have told them yes on multiple occasions and nobody has ever shown up (surprise, surprise).....  I have asked them specific questions regarding my husbands "debt" and they give me everything Im looking for.  A legit company would NEVER disclose this info without my husbands authorization.  I am so tired of them calling and have tried to block the number but they always get through!  How can I make them stop????

    Hi
I got the same thing about going to court and they going to do proceeding and I did ask them where they where located and the guy says something in New York. But, when I asked to speak the person handling my case she was never around and I must spent hours arguing on the phone with them and I did ask the guy did he have my case and claim Mrs. Collins have my case. but he have no way to look up anything since she has it and she suppose to be really busy today and when I called on Friday they said she was busy again and found out she was not there for the day. sound fishy to me. but I'm not giving up nothing. had to call go to my bank and get my funds back which was in provision in order to get it back after explaining to my bank I got scam. well just say this it wasn't over 500 bucks but still. Also when I called on Thursday last week trying to get ahold of someone the phone number voicemail wasn't set up and also when I call it would just ring. but they claim they opens up at 10 am est. and closed on Friday at 5 pm est. really and who dont have my case file or anything but claiming to be an attorney office. hmmm!

I am trying to figure out why you are going to all that trouble when all you need to do is make them follow the letter of the law:

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it.  You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

First, you should make a complaint at this Federal Agency, and while there you should also read up on how debt collection is supposed to work as well as what your rights in this matter are: https://www.consumerfinance.gov/

Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.
