Someone called my office phone identifying herself as a nurse from United Healthcare, which is my company's health insurance benefit provider.  Sounds legit, but who knows?  

I received a called at home from a nurse with United Healthcare, too.
I hope it was legit!

It's legit.  United Health Care.  Your company health plan (or whoever is ensuring you) likely has you down for wellness coaching as part of some enrollment discount you received. Calls started for me just after open enrollment.  Call them back and you can opt out for 1 year.  Or tell the friendly nurse about your problems :-)

We have Dr's to discuss our problems with, that is what they are for..

So I called back and went as far as I could go with giving them general information (my zip code) and then the nurse said because of the HIPPA laws I would need to confirm that they are talking to the right person and could they have my STREET ADDRESS and my DATE OF BIRTH!!  NOT GETTIN' IT!!  Oh, they sound so sweet and pleasant as they are talking to you...and then the message right away at the beginning "if this is a medical emergency, please hang up and dial 911"  Huh? You called me and I'm returning a call...duh!!  I called them back from a different phone line AND they called in my wife's name, NOT ME! And I gave them MY NAME (which obviously they weren't originally calling me) and how was she ready to "verify" my information if the original call was not for me???  SCAM!!!!!!!!!!!  They said they were from UnitedHealthcare and that is our insurance carrier but I don't believe for one second that it was UH at all.  TRY AGAIN!!!

You, sir or madam, have too much time on your hands to worry about things that are not worrisome.

They are legit... My daughter was in the hospital and they called to check up and set me up with a nurse to speak about her progress every day. I agreed to speak with them free of charge and I was never charged and they were very helpful.... they were just helping out.. nice to have that option to speak to a nurse whenever you need to..:)

Awful sounding robo-voice that was barely understandable after replaying voice mail 5 times.  If it's truly NOT a scam then it is an AWFUL customer experience that would drive anyone to not want to call back because it seems like something no legitimate company would send to you!

It seems like a legitimate UHC contact.  I get the feeling they are probing for our medical information because it is valuable to them and their future business partners.  They're my insurer, not my doctor, and I don't want them documenting some pre-existing condition for somebody in the future to refuse coverage for, or otherwise use my personal medical information for their gain and my loss.  I chose not to share.  Sorry our medical system and politics are in such a state, but I think that is a very realistic risk scenario.  Your doctors have laws about keeping your medical information secret and that's one of the reasons why.

Legit, UHC program set for your benefit from your employer, very helpful

I received a call 2 weeks ago from them When I called them back they told me I had an attorney and that I needed to speak with a specific person. I left that person a message and she never called me back. Mind you, I don't have an attorney. I received another call today and then I called them back I verified my name. They wanted to know if I received a call or letter, I told them a call. They then wanted to verify my address and DOB. I asked them what the call was in reference to and they told me they could not tell me that information until I verified my address and DOB with them. I again told them I wanted to know what the call was about. His response was "we have your address and DOB, I just need you to verify it so we know we are speaking to the right person." He then told me that they had sent me a letter in the mail last week. I said, no, you didn't because I have received nothing, He then sounded a little nervous and asked if I had moved. I responded no and told him to take me off of his call list immediately. I have not had United Health care for Insurance is over 7 years.

They are trying to push their HORRIBLE Optum RX. Check out the reviews. AVOID this service. And now they not only are using VOID phone numbers top get to you. They just will not leave you alone. DO NOY USE THEM!

During the Pandemic more and more companies seem to be taking advantage to push their products/services. My husband, who is listed under the UHC insurance plan I have through my employer, got a voice mail call. The voice mail stated they were calling on behalf of my employer (big lie) I called them back (It is MY insurance after all) and they would not tell me what the call was about. Citing that it is HIS personal information and only HE is authorized to call back. I told the "register nurse" that I would get a hold of my HR dept to inquire and she stuttered a bit and then admitted that they were NOT calling on behalf of my employer, afterall. She stated it was probably just an "offer" they had for my husband. I told her he wouldn't be needing any of their "offers" and he would be staying on my insurance plan. She hung up. I'm thinking maybe it is a way to push telemed services during CoVid. Maybe these online medical services are subsidized by number of their users? Just a thought....

If they are your insurer, they already have your medical information

Rec'd a voice mail from a gentleman calling form 651-273-0795 saying he was calling from my company and UHC and to call back at 855-318-7347. A quick google search shows back in 2018 UHC issued a scam alert for this phone number and there are reports for the MN number as well.. I contacted UHC directly and they said to not give any personal information.

I let this go to my voicemail. Here's the crux of the message: "This message is for... This is United Healthcare calling on behalf of you benefit provided to you at no additional cost through your benefits with the State of Alaska (I do live in Alaska). Please give us a call back at your earliest convenience on our toll-free number which is 855-318-7347 to learn more about the free program. We do look forward to speaking with you. Please give us a call when you have a moment. Thank you for your time. Have a great day. Bye."
I do NOT have United Healthcare as my default insurance. A search for "United Healthcare Scam Alert" pulls up this website: https://smart-union.org/news/unitedhealthcare-issues-scam-alert/ . Seems like a scam to me.
The number that showed up on the caller ID was 312-900-9815. This does NOT sound legit.
