- Victor Aguirre| 7 repliesThis number just called me and told me I have a court case against me. I asked the name of the law firm or lawyer, then they gave me a fake business name. I hung up and checked. I found no business. They are using and "unknown" phone number. I reported them to the FBI.

- Gerald| 1 replyReceived call from UNKNOWN number... Sent to VM... VM said "a complaint" & "pending action being filed against" me... Returned call and gave "Reference file number"... Was eventually forwarded to "Chris Reilly" who refused to give me any information unless I provided DOB & last four of SSN... He said "A courier" had contacted me in reference to certified mail and documents... When I asked him for name of business he said Glenmore Acquisitions but hesitated when asked Inc or LLC... He opted for LLC... No records found
- Caller: Glenmore Acquisitions LLC
- Anonymous| 1 replyThis number just called and like the above posts, said that a "complaint or pending action was being filed against me" Funny because the name that they gave was my ex-sister-in-law. They said that she had 24 hours to respond or it would be admission of acceptance of the complaint. The caller said that her name was Jessica Campbell.
- Caller: Some law firm
- UndisclosedCalled initially saying there was a case against me and that I needed to call 8553238043 and give specific reference number. Called and they threatened with some non sense about outstanding credit from 15 years ago which makes zero sense. Did not have that card or balance at any time. Plus in good standing with bank they called their "client". Called bank they referred to and confirmed that there were no open items and that after 10 years they cannot come after you anyways. The man we spoke to threatened police subpoena out of nowhere. We have never received any info prior. Bank confirmed it seems like fraud. They will be reported to the credit bureau and BBB. Scam. Beware. They try to use scare tantics to get your personal info and probably eventually try to have you settle with some payout to them. Scam!

- JessicaMy sister got a call stating they needed to speak to me because I was being sued. She reached out to me with the information and when I called back, they referred to me by my maiden name and asked to confirm the last 4 of my social. I told them that I wasn't confirming any personal information until I find out what it's about. The person said well good luck in court then and hung up on me. Then I got a text from my husbands ex wife saying they contacted her with the same information and that I had to call them. By this point I was severely annoyed because they've reached out to multiple people and it had to stop. So I called them again and was transferred to "Tom" I told him the file number and said I need to get all information so I can contact my attorney. He promptly gets mad and says, "you have the file number." And hung up on me. My next call was to the federal trade commission and reported them.

- TiaH replies to Victor Aguirre| 1 replyI received a call from this number as well saying I have a court case. How can I report them to the FBI?
- Sadie CelesteJust received a call from unknown number, saying they had a package for me to be delivered to an address I had 10 years ago, in a different state. When I told her I no longer live there, she gave me this number, said they would have info on who it was from and in reference to what. Sounds VERY suspicious to me.

- Becky replies to Uleta salmoni| 1 replySame here I got phone call from an unknown number I had them call back and leave me a message cause I was at work. so they gave me a phone number I called it back and they said I had unpaid medical bills but they couldn't provide me with the actual bill itself they said because of the HIPAA law. they sent to me documents to my email and told me I needed to sign them within 24 hours or a judgment was going to go against me . They also told me I was going to be served tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. I've never heard of someone telling you you're going to be served how do I contact the FBI about this
- Amber replies to Uleta salmoniCall the FTC so they can be caught
877-382-4357 - AmberOk so---
I am a law student in my state. Got a phone call from a relative saying I had a court date on 4/21. No records found on the dockets. Looked at my credit, it's fine. If you are being served, there is a standard protocol saying you will be delivered certified mail 48 hours before your scheduled session. Couriers know where you live, they don't "wait" for you, ever. This is a scam! Beware! Call the FTC and file a complaint so the FBI can get involved.

- Miranda replies to AnonymousI got the same phone call from a Jessica Campbell. She left a VM. She new my name. Said that "a complaint or pending action was being filed against me." But right before she started speaking on the VM, you can hear her whispering to someone saying "What do I say? What do I say?" before she quickly starts with her spill about her "complaint". She said I had 24 hrs to contact her firm at 855-323-8043. But she certainly didn't sound very professional by starting out the VM whispering, not knowing what she was supposed to be saying. I knew it was a scam right away.

- NobleExperimentsHad the same experience as the above from "Stacy". Sounded practiced, but not a robo-call. Will call the FTC tonight, so thanks to everyone who's posted on this.

- Sahs| 1 replyYep same experience here. They called with my mother in law's name. The lady said her name was Diana Shaw. I let it go to voicemail since my phone said "no caller ID". Said she had a court case and to call within 24 hours
- Caller: Diana Shaw
- Alfalfa replies to SahsThe Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:
is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.
Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.
