Received a called from this guy Troy Mathews saying he will be serving a summon to my work place and place of home leave a called back number 1-855-332-3044 to settle an arraignment with the plantiff or leave him with no choice but to served the summons.  Called from a restricted/no caller id with lots of noise from back ground.
Could this be true that a summon be served and they called to let you know and settle out of court with the plantiff?

So i got a call from a restricted number and said i should call them, as soon as i called in i spoke to someone immediately, informed me of the situation. I then received the details and said that i wanted to go to court to see the charges, and i immediately got a call from a process server saying that i was a direct refusal and said i had 10 min to contact them back if it was a mistake. I told him that it was not, he arrived in a Black car.. with the local sheriff and i received my summons and i am now due in court in 3 days.. I was skeptical at first as well because of the notes on here which i follow religiously if i am contacted by a restricted number but this is not a joke i actually have my sealed documents in my hands as i speak..

I received a call today from someone saying her name was "Kim Folger."  She said she was a processor and would be at my place of employment within a couple of hours to serve me with papers regarding some charges that had been filed against me.  I asked for her phone number, which of course she would not give me.  She told me to call 1-855-332-3044 to try to resolve this matter, otherwise she would come to serve me the papers.  I called the number.  They were quite rude and did not volunteer much information.  Finally they said this was about a debt that I owed "Cash Jar" in the amount of $922.  I googled Cash Jar, called them and they said I did not owe them any money.  The lady was very helpful and gave me the number of another company that at one point they had sold part of their business to.  She said possibly they had more information.  They did not, but gave me someone else's number, who ended up giving me the above mentioned number.  This was not a quick process and took many many phone calls to figure it out.  During this time "Kim Folger" continued to call my office demanding to speak with me and each time told me she would be here in an hour.  The guy at the 1-855 number said that this process server (Kim Folger) would come to my office with the Sheriff today if I did not resolve this debt.  Immediately I looked up the Sheriff's information for my local county.  I sent them an email and they replied within 10 minutes.  The Sheriff said that this was definitely a scam (he also called me at my work to follow up.)  He said he doubted they would call back because he contacted them directly.  He said it is a scam being run out of the Seattle, Washington area and do not give them any money.  Fortunately, my step father used to work with this Sheriff when they were on the police department and I was able to make that connection.  Otherwise I don't know if they would have responded so quickly.  It was very kind of them and I am so appreciative.  After talking with the Sheriff personally I called the 1-855 phone number back.  As soon as I mentioned that I had contacted the Sheriff's office they told me that my file had been "referred out of their office" and they did not need to communicate with me any further.  Well, they continued to hang up on me and I continued to call them back until I got my point across.  I am sharing this information in the hopes that it will help someone else.  If this happens to you, please contact the local Sheriff's office or police department and report the incident!!

You are lying!  This is a scam.  If you owe someone money they are willing to provide you will all the details needed to resolve the debt.  They do not play this game of "I'm going to come get you at work and bring the Sheriff!"  You are truly a sad, dimwitted soul looking for some unfortunate soul to prey on.  This time someone called your bluff and now you're on the Sheriff's radar!  Good job!!

Well, add me to the list!  I got a call on my cell from a "blocked" number, asking to speak with my daughter...I responded that she could not be reached at this number, and the lady on the other end informed me that this was the primary contact number she had for my daughter, and asked if I was in contact with her.  I replied that I was on an occasional basis, and the woman proceeded to tell me that she was a process server and that she had a "summons" for my daughter.  She asked me to take down the phone number of 855-332-3044 and the case number, which I did.  After taking down the number, I asked pointedly if I understood correctly that this "summons" was attached to a complaint filed in a court in California...her reply was that she was just a process server, and my daughter would have to call the number to get further information.  She then proceeded to tell me that she "considered (my daughter") notified" and hung up. YES, PEOPLE...THIS IS A SCAM! They are a debt collector  who has purchased a debt and are trying to get the debtor to contact them and pay them.  Based on the thread above, I assume "Garth" works for this company and is trying to put the fear of god in everyone when they get these calls. GARTH: If you're going to feed me a line, try to at least do a little bit of investigation to make it sound plausible! If you receive a summons to appear in court as a defendant on non-payment of a debt, the plaintiff has to file an action in court (a "complaint") and then the court gives you THIRTY (30) DAYS TO RESPOND!  And you respond by filing a "response", not by appearing in court!  There is no civil court action that requires you to appear in person in 3 days after being served with a "summons"!!!  And you should tell your "process server" to come up with a better line than she "considers (the person) notified"...a phone call is not proper notification for a lawsuit!  I would have put more stock in "GARTH" if he had said the guy pulled up in a black car with a baseball bat! Now that would have gotten my attention! Hopefully, we are past the days when Guido shows up at your house to collect past due debts...but obviously, we are not past the days where debt collectors lie on the phone to get you to pay a debt that you may or may not owe.  As for who to contact, I would advise that you contact any law enforcement agency that this "process server" claims will be showing up at your door (i.e. the sheriff, etc). and you should file a complaint with your State's Dept. of Consumer Affairs...these guys are regulated and have to be licensed, but most people don't know this.  You can also refer to The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), which is a federal law prohibiting debt collectors from engaging in abusive or deceptive bill collection practices. Those living in California are also protected by the California Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (CFDCPA), which covers more types of collectors and offers additional protections. If you live in California, you will be protected by both California law and the FDCPA. The California Fair Debt Collection Practices Act regulates both debt collectors and creditors by prohibiting them from using deceptive, unfair, and abusive collection methods. Good Luck!

Please read my previous posts.  You are exactly right that this is a scam.  I did contact my local Sheriff's office.  They called me this past Friday at work and did the same thing.  This is actually a form of extortion and absolutely illegal.  The Sheriff's office called the phone number and told them that they were not to call me again.  The Sheriff's office then called me back and said he doubted I would hear from them again.  He said this is a scam and this company has been reported previously.

Thank you Katman........this is a scam.  I've been getting a called from this guy going by the name Troy Mathews who claiming to be working for the state.  When I asked him questions, he kept responding that he don't know and I have to called this 855 number to get more detail and he couldn't tell me what court that the plaintiff is suing me and just gave me a reference number. I call all the court in California with the reference number and the court clerk say that they don't have any records in file and beside the court case number doesn't include the last SSN and they do not called to notify you before the summon is serve.
