Got a pop up presuming to be from Comcast Cable Communications inc. requesting that I call the number in the message to unlock my frozen computer. Details regarding my IP address and Chrome version were included.

I just got this as well and googled the number to see what it is and how to fix it. I obviously don't want to call the number. Can I ask if you managed to fix it or how to go about it? Thanks!!! I have a brand new laptop and am at my university and was wrapping up some Excel projects and am terrified of losing my work!

I just got the same pop up. They want you to call and charge you money to fix. SCAM!!  Hit Restart.

Same thing. Chrome Browser. MacBook. Tells you your IP address and adds some other facts (like Browser and Operating System versions that are easy to extrapolate) to add validity to the message. Then a FIRM warning to "NOT SHUT DOWN OR RESTART THE COMPUTER"... lol

Beware of this scammer.  Blocks or freezes your computer and tells you to call 855 334 9302 to solve the problem at a price.  If asked to call this scammers number, shut your computer and then start over.

This is a scam, DO NOT GIVE THEM ACCESS TO YOU COMPUTER THROUGH REMOTE ASSIST. Call Comcast Security 888-565-4329. Change you wifi password immediately.

The pop up message warning you of an infection in your computer files is a scam attempt to get you to call a number listed with a warning DO NOT SHUT YOUR COMPUTER DOWN - DAMAGE WILL OCCUR IF YOU DO. It is a money scam from foreign country. They want you to call by phone to talk you into allowing them remote access to your computer and a bank account # for pmt of phony "repair". DO NOT DO ANY OF IT. If you do, they will drain your acct without your knowledge. Just shut your computer down, wait a few minutes, then restart.

I got the same thing. Googled the number from my phone and was happy to see these posts. Thank you! I turned it off and back on and everything seems fine.

This a money scam from foreign country - such as India, Pakistan or Nigeria - in attempt for you to call the phone #. There is no problem with your computer. They just know how to freeze the screen with a phony warning. If you call the phone # you will get a scammer with bad English offering to "fix" your computer for a price. Then he will ask you to install a remote access program on your computer such as logmein or teamviewer. If you do, then they will ask for a bank acct# "to pay for the phony "repair". If you're dumb enough to do that (and many are), they can and will drain that bank acct.   Just shut down you computer, the restart it. No damage will occur.

I gave them access to my computer stupidly. I don't know what will happen now.

I have received many calls from 855 334 9302 showing all "official" looking MICROSOFT Logos , Id's etc., telling me this or that virus or Trojan Horse has infected the computer and I need to call 855 334 9302 IMMEDIATELY or my PC will "go boom" When I try to close the notice it does not allow  it and I must completely RESTART
