They are claiming to be a legal service, called NLS.

Newspeak for debt collector.

I received a message from this number stating that I was used as a reference.  The person said they were Copella Robinson at ext. 226.  She/he said that they were calling from someone else and they had written worthless check to Capital One Bank.  They noted the invididual's name, last (4) numbers of their social security number, stated the name of my business, which had nothing to do with them. I returned the call to this Copella Robinson, told them I was recording this conversation, and I was informed that they were not giving me permission to record the conversation.  They went on to tell me that this person worked for me in my business.  I told them I had been out of business for over 4 year and the Cease and Dessist calling my number.  To remove my name and number, and to not harass me.  I told them it was against the law to tell me about anyone else business under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.  They stated that I was listed and what I needed to do was to past this message on to them.

Said that they had worthless checks on their desk from an account that has been closed for years.  Told me that uniformed officers would be coming to my door.  When I asked for her name and contact info, she hung up on me.

This very rude lady called me over a pay day loan. She was from ext. 226. She said she had sent uniform officers to my former employer. I told her I hadn't gotten email correspondence because I wasn't employed there any longer. She proceeded to threaten me, ridicule me, and even threw in that if I called her back - she  would be in family court taking peoples kids out of their homes.
She told me if I didn't borrow the money or put another of my expenses on hold, my amount owed would go up by $4000!  Then when I had a friend call and offer to send a money order, she called me back and said she would accept western union from anyone BUT me and that she would no longer do business with me. She wished me luck with dealing with my county attorney.
I called my county attorney and they referred me to report this company to the Attorney General, as they only deal with criminal cases - nothing financial.
This company uses fraud to scare you into dealing with them.  I would proceed cautiously, if at all.
