A message was left on my answering machine from the 855-339=0384 phone number, the man said he was Brian Scott  saying there was 3 civil and 1 criminal suite against a person by the name of Elaine Dado or Daydo. When I called the number back to inform that this person is not at this telephone number There was no answer. An Extension number of 205 was left with the phone number. Brian Scott also stated that she should have her attorney call and if she didn't have one to get one.  One other time the caller stated there had identity  theft on her, needed her information.

My wife and I received 2 messages from Roman Capital today, 855 339 0384 from a "representative" named "Monica Cruz" who used the term "imperative" that she be called back. She left no explanation as to why, no extension and no further information. I attempted to call her back at not only the aforementioned toll free number, however also at a toll number. One of several things that I would like to know is how this person obtained our phone numbers.

How can I verify whether or not a debt collector is legitimate?
Here are a few warning signs that could signal a debt collection scam:

The debt collector threatens you. Legitimate debt collectors probably won't claim that they'll have you arrested or claim that they or their employees are law enforcement officers.

The debt collector refuses to give you information about your debt or is trying to collect a debt you do not recognize. You have certain rights to ask a debt collector to verify the debt. You can use this sample letter to request this information. Ask for an explanation in writing before you pay.

The debt collector refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number.

The debt collector asks you for sensitive personal financial information. You should never provide anyone with your personal financial information unless you are sure they're legitimate.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

Ask the caller for his or her name, company, street address, telephone number, and professional license number. Many states require debt collectors to be licensed. Check the information the caller provides you with your state officials, or the state in which the debt collector holds a license. If the caller refuses or is unable to provide you with information about his company, or if you can’t verify the information he provides, do not give money to the caller or company.

Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." This notice must include:
    The amount of the debt
The name of the creditor you owe
A description of certain rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, consider requesting this information in writing or seeking assistance before paying the debt to make sure the debt, and the company, are valid.

Tip: You can consider sending the collector a letter requesting the information by using one of the CFPB's sample letters. You can also submit a complaint to the CFPB or you can contact your state Attorney General’s office.

Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know the company or person you are talking with is a real debt collector. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft such as:
    Charging your existing credit cards
Opening new credit card or checking accounts
    Writing fraudulent checks
Taking out loans in your name

Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

Report the call. Submit a complaint with the CFPB or get in touch with your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers.

Stop speaking with the caller. If nothing else works and you believe the calls are fraudulent, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files.

Tip: You can use this sample letter to write a letter demanding the debt collector stop contacting you. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

Tip: If you're having trouble with debt collection, you can submit a complaint with the CFPB online or by calling (855) 411-CFPB (2372).

    Knows Firsthand
IF you lived or currently live in Oklahoma, specifically the shawnee area and they have called looking for a Brandon Welch, this is an attempt to collect on a legitimate fraud case concering the person who assumed the identity of that person in a credit card scheme. The telephone number to give them when they call is 405-964-2864. The person who is responsible for the calls concerning Brandon Welch is Gaylen Cates. This telephone number is his mother's. This will ONLY work if you were in Oklahoma and the calls are concerning Brandon Welch.

My son just received a call from this number. This person told him they represented Direct Capital, and that he took out a $500 loan in 2011 from a Woodforest Bank that was never paid back. They threatened 3 felony charges. My son is disabled & did not even know there was a Woodforest Bank in our area. What a bunch of creeps.

Someone not stupid enough to give money
I recived calls from an Xavier Burns with a 682-227-8977 number, Paul Marks 760-278-7033 and Karen Rivers 509-588-7107, There is a request to call back to 855-794-6700, 855-339-0384. They are relentless and continue to call. They called my CHILD and then lied to me and claimed they never called and she probably wasn't my child but really me. I explained to her she (my daughter) came out of my crotch therefore she is truly my child and I had a copy of her call log to prove they called!! Call your local sheriff and file a report with identifying information. If you have an iPhone block their number and just ignore them! They claim to be from Direct Capital but will not give an address to verify and refuse to give further identifying info. BEWARE!!!!

This number called my former father-in-law and asked for me by my current married name.  They told him that they had a complaint against me and gave him a reference number to give to me. I've never given out or used his number and I haven't used my late husband's last name since I remarried almost 7 years ago. Should I be worried about identity theft or someone possibly hacking my bank account or something?  This is all just too weird to ignore considering that I've only been in contact with my former in-laws for about 9 months now.

A certain Elizabeth Boutchman called me from 855-339-0384 regarding some claim against my name and my social. When I call back to find out what was going, the refused to give me any information unless I verified my social and my DOB and when I told them by law they were required to send me written validation notice with the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor I owe and my rights under the federal fair debt collections practices, she hung up. BEWARE it's a scam.

People beware, you have rights.  These people are not running a legit company.  Even if you do owe a debt, you have rights, and one of those rights is they have to send you verification in writing.  contact the people that can shut people like this down.  Your local Attorney General's Office, the Federal Trade Commission as well as the BBB.
