Supposed tax return

Supposed IRS Call about Identity Theft. When I tried to call back no answer or connection then the call drops.

Someone with an Indian accent called claiming that multiple parties were trying to access my computer. This included someone from China.

It is actually a new number that the representatives working identity theft cases on the taxpayers behalf are using. It's perfectly safe. Answer the damn phone.

Unless you've had previous contact with the IRS, with you initiating the call, it's doubtful they're randomly going to get hold of you. If the IRS believes your identity may be compromised, you'll receive a 4883 form in the mail, which requires you to call in to get resolved. They won't call you, especially out of the blue. This number shows no links to the IRS, either, and it's unwise to deal with it.

Why are you so hostile in your post? Shills are usually the only people who are that arrogant when there is no independently verifiable information on a number thread.

Scammers can easily spoof any phone number the IRS uses, which is why people should NOT give any information to whoever calls with this number; people should call the published IRS numbers only, or the phone numbers that appear in official letters from the IRS.

ID theft call. Woman wanted info. I said if you are from the IRS you have all my info. If you have our name you do not need to verify anything.

Surely criminals aren't going to spoof actual IRS numbers, as William pointed out in the post right after mine. While this number may indeed be connected to the IRS, odds are slim you're going to get a random call from them unless you initiated the contact. I'm not calling or providing information to any number listed as IRS that's not provided in any mail I might receive. Furthermore, there's more knocks against this number than there are with it actually being linked to the IRS.~I Was Prepared~JustinCase

I received a letter in the mail from irs. With my last 4 ss # saying to call this

number 855 343 0057. Then  it had a virginia number start with 304 call me back is this a scam are really irs???

Instead of asking random strangers on a phone number look-up site, why don't you do the smart thing and contact the IRS at a known phone number found on their official website?
