They called me from an unknown number and stated they are suing me, and that I owe afevt from ,$690 to $3000 and I said how can that be, it was back n 2010 n they state there going to sue me.

Got a call from this number with no caller ID on my cell. The guy stated he was from legal services and explained that i had been summoned for court and did I know I was being sued. I was flabbergasted so I called the number he provided. I got a lady on the phone by the name of "christy" she was extremely scary with her tactics stating I didnt pay a medical bill blah blah blah. I must admit, I am a smart individual, but they had me so terrified over being sued I gave them all of my personal information-because the date of service for the hospital bill was legit. Lesson learned. Now I will be alerting all of my credit card companies. GREAT! Merry Christmas!!!!!!!!!!1

Claim to be calling from National Document Services.  They gave a case# and requested I call back and speak to a Patricia Willis concerning the delivery of court papers for a lawsuit.  This is a scam.

Got a call from a “ No Caller ID” number. The guy told me that I missed my court appearance. He gave me another number to call with a case number. Called the number and gave them my case number and they told me I had to pay a little over $2000. I asked him to email me all the information he had and I haven’t received anything from them. Scam!

This number is also in conjunction with 714-388-6379. Claiming to be legal and we are being sued. Failure to appear in court. They can be very intimidating.

Got a call as emergency contact for a in law ,who I haven't spoke to in months,  was asked to relay a message to him

Criminals are masquerading as debt collectors in an attempt to extort money from people by scaring them into believing that:
a.    You are going to be sued and it will cost you lots of money when they allegedly “win” their case.
b.    That they are about to file criminal charges or that you will be criminally charged (they use the bad check or hot check claim a lot) and go to jail, even though debt is civil not criminal, there are no criminal charges, and debtor’s prison was outlawed over 200 years ago.
c.    That they will take away your driver’s license.
d.    That will garnish your wages without actually being suing you, going to court, or even winning a case and obtaining a judgement followed by a judge’s consent to the garnishment.  They also claim that your wages will be garnished in amounts far above all legal limits.

One of the tricks they use is to call your family, friends, neighbors and/or places of employment (past or present or both) to create panic and embarrassment so that their intended victim calls them and they can scare that person into paying their extortion money.  They often call people that have never even been associated with you because they get erroneous information off of the internet.

They will use the words “Mediator”, “Arbitrator”, “Law Office” or claim that they are a “Lawyer or Paralegal” to make you believe that they are something other than a debt collector want-a-be and that they don’t have to follow Federal and State collection laws, even though they do have to follow those laws.  They also tell you that if you fail to call them back you are "waiving your right to council" or that “the case will proceed without you” which is pretty much nothing but hogwash.  They tell you that they need a “statement” from you regarding the complaint and if you don’t call back they “wish you good luck as things unfold”. They use the phrase “consider yourself notified/served” or “govern yourself accordingly” a lot, something they should do themselves.

They claim they are officers of the court, or that an officer will accompany them, or even that they are sending officers to arrest you.  All hogwash.  They are now also claiming that they will be in an “orange vest” and they tell you to lock up your dogs and guns for “everyone’s” protection.  More hogwash.

They mention that they have received a Fax document or some sort of complaint and that there is a pending legal matter or action about to filed against you to create the sense of urgency.  They tell you that they are a “process server” and cannot give you the particulars of the case since the file is sealed. This is simply ruse to get you to call another number (often with a made-up case number) where they will ask for money to “make it go away” (this is actually the same place, they work in teams, one pretending to be the server, and the other usually pretends to be a lawyer).  They threaten to serve you at home or at work.  They tell you that if they serve you at work they need a supervisor, security, or HR person there as a witness, hoping that will cause you to panic over the alleged embarrassment of being served at work.  They also tell you that you will need two forms of ID.  None of which is true.  Process servers do not ever call ahead so that you can dodge them.  Process servers get paid to serve papers, nothing else.  They certainly are not going to pass up a paycheck by telling you that you can avoid being served, they are not going to give you an extra day or even a few hours to get a “stop order”.  Court documents are time sensitive and have to be served within a certain amount of time.  Remember that you can always call the local courthouse to see if there is actually a lawsuit that has been filed against you.

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it.  You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.  

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

I got a call from a "Private" number. It was a well spoken woman saying I missed a summons to court. I was floored. I stated that I hadn't received any summons, etc. She gave me this number: 855-343-3163 and a case #. I called and spoke to a guy named "Brian". He said that they were trying to collect a debt from a hospital visit I made back in 2006 in Georgia (I don't even live in GA anymore). He said that they received a judgement from court from a lawsuit against me because I didn't show up to the "summons" in an amount exceeding $2,000. He said the bill was originally $700 but with attorney fees, interest, etc. it came out to over $2 grand. He said that with the judgment they would be putting a hold on my credit cards so I wouldn't be able to use those lines of credit until this debt was paid. He knew I had 2 credit cards and he knew which company they were from. He said if I wanted to settle this then I could pay $500 from one of my credit cards (he said that one of my credit cards, the one I am an additional user on from my girlfriend's credit card account, had enough credit on it to pay that and it does but I think he was just taking a stab in the dark on that one). As soon as he said I could pay $500 on a $2,000+ bill that was originally $700, I started to get real suspicious. So he told me that my hospital visit was from 2006, he said for me to speak to my girlfriend about paying the $500 and to call him back. So I called the hospital and had them do a check on the dates that I had been to that hospital. The 2 times I went to that hospital were in 2001 and in 2003. She said she had no date of me being there in 2006. So I called "Brian" back and asked him for the specific date that I was at the hospital. He put me on hold for about 2 minutes. When he came back he said my visit to the hospital was on May 17th, 2006. Then I came on here searching for the number and found this page.

Thanx for all the comments everyone. This is a scam for sure. If anyone is still unconvinced that it's a scam, call them back and ask them to send you a letter about the settlement/judgement/collection/etc. 20 to 1 they will either come up with some reason why they can't or won't do that or they'll say that they will send you the paperwork but you won't get anything in the mail. You can also ask them or their physical address to mail the payment in and I guarantee they won't give you an address. At this point, I'm not calling them back. Friggin scammers. Trying to steal money from good, hard working people. They are friggin vampires. I wish there was something more I could do other than posting this here but there's not much we can do. I think there's a website that we can submit phone numbers from scammers. I'm going to Google that next.
