Suspected job search scammer.  I received a text message from short code, 62178 saying, "Hello <my first name>. It's Chris. Are you still interested in the job?  By happenstance, a co-worker of mine is friends with someone named Chris who works for a job I applied to and will be interviewing with. My co-worker told me the day before, that he was going to reach out to him and put in a good word for me.  I reply to the text, "Is this <my co-worker's> friend?"  I receive a text back a few minutes later, SimplyGigs: You are opted out and will receive no more msgs. For help, please call 855-351-3338".  I suspect this may have been a cramming scam.  Had I replied, Yes to the question about being interested in the job, that it could be used fraudulently to claim I consented to a service billed through my wireless provider.  I started getting a bunch of phishy looking job search emails after signing up with an Indeed account.  I suspect maybe Indeed is selling their users' data to less-than-legitimate sources and that's why I've started getting these all of a sudden.

Sorry to bother you but this opening just became available - ultlst.com/a/3G9830 Reply STOP to opt out. I reply stop as I never applied for anything. Automatic reply of ... SimplyGigs: You are opted out and will receive no more msgs. For help, please call 855-351-3338. So I did a search on the phone number and it came up as a scam!

Always some weird texts and always calling me Randy....have no idea who this is,  frustrating

perfpost.com/a/Q59TOJ reply STOP to opt out. I replied I am NOT FRANCINE. I replied STOP. Ireceive a text SimplyGigs I am opted out. For help (855) 351-3338. I did a search to see who called me from the number. That led me here.

Forward unwanted spam/scam texts to 7726 (SPAM) and let your phone service provider deal with them.
That number was set up by the phone companies to combat spam texts and they can shutdown offending phone numbers.
Never reply with "STOP", scammers will not honor the request (they have no honor to begin with) and it only verifies that they have texted to a valid number and a person who reads their texts.  It will not STOP the texts and may actually make them more frequent.
Never click on a link in such a text as it may cause malware to be inserted on your phone, and even if it does not, just as with replying "STOP" the scammers will know they reached a valid number.
Do not repost any links included in the text message to sites such as this one.
