- Michelle| 14 repliesReceived a call today. They left a reference number and a phone number to call. I called the number to see who it was and a girl answered saying Glenmore Acquisitions. I googled it and there's a web page for them but it's only a facade site. There's no links for more info or who their clients are, etc. I assume they are scam debt collectors either trying to scare people into paying debt that doesn't exist or debts so old they can't be collected on. Anyone else receive a call from this number?
- Caller: Glenmore Acquisitions
- Kelly replies to MichelleReceived very similar call yesterday. I googled as well but Glenmore Acuistions and scams and found this site with people writing similar stories from a different number and yes their website looked shady. First when I called back he said it was a law firm and that we were being sued for an unpaid gym contract. If we didn't pay today they would serve us with papers to go to court and be sued and it would be more money. Called the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau to file a complaint.

In any event,
Just because someone on the phone calling you says you owe a debt does not mean you actually owe it.
If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:
1. Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
2. Demand a debt validation letter by US mail. E-mail no good.
3. Do not pay the collection agent or anyone else a dime until the debt is validated
Of course they won’t do this, no scammer ever will, so simply ignore them and block their calls.
If they are bothering you, report them:
http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection (Threatening civil proceedings with no intent to follow through, or threatening criminal process in order to collect a civil debt is a violation of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.) The same goes for endless telephone harassment
Note that the US Supreme Court in the Case of HENSON ET AL. v. SANTANDER CONSUMER USA INC., has recently ruled that the provisions of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act do not apply if the creditor owns the debt in question. As a practical matter this probably won't effect the kinds of scam debt collectors who often show up on 800notes. The scam collectors don't give you any information about themselves so it is impossible to know whether or not they in fact "own" the debt in question. Most do not send debt validation letters and many often say they are collecting for someone else. So, make the complaint anyway if they are bothering you. Let the FTC sort it out.
Also contact your local attorney general
If they continue to bother you, and you know you do not owe any money, tell them that you know this is a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion. Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved. Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.- Caller: Informational post
- Marie replies to Michelle| 1 replyMy daughter got one yesterday and at first the woman said it was a vision center calling, it was a so called debt collector saying that she was going to be subpoenaed which is today and if she didn't go to court she would be arrested, and this is for a credit card, she called a number they gave her and a woman by the name of Jennifer Scott and told her she wasn't going to be subpoenaed after all if she would just put $150.00 on a prepaid card, and they would take that out of the card for the next 9 mos until paid off, my daughter is supposed to call her back and give her the card number
- MarieCalling about a credit card debt
- Caller: Jennifer Scott
- Call type: Debt collector
- Megan replies to MarieGot a call as well. After questioning them and asking why I never got certified mail of any sort if I am being sued, they got nasty with me. I spoke with " chris" the director of operations" who screamed at me and told me I would be going to court and paying all the extra court fees and attorney fees. These people are nuts!
- Brandon replies to MichelleThey just me saying they was a lawyer office going to take me to court for the sum of 1000dollars for a medical bill from 08 yr from santa Rosa medical witch I never been to where it's located at I've never lived there
- LGarciaOn 6/27/2017, my family received a voicemail from this number. "Firm" number and reference number provided. I am a licensed attorney in California, so I decided to call them. They would not give me any information without a "letter of representation" faxed to their offices. First of all, this is the first time that another "law firm" requests a "letter of representation" from me when I have represented that I represent my mother in all matters. Please do not provide this "firm" with any confidential personal information. If you legitimately owe money or have a complaint filed against you, you should receive something in writing, not a scammy, blocked number phone call.
- Caller: Law firm
- Jennifer| 1 replyReceived a call from this same number claiming they were a "firm" in reference of a "complaint" that had been forwarded to their office. This call was not intended for me, rather they gave the name of my Uncle who lives 2 hours away. Not sure why they are calling my number.
Call:
"This important message is intended for (my uncles name). My name is Diana Shaw, I'm contacting you in reference to a complaint that has been forwarded over to my office. If (uncles name) has any questions or concerns regarding the pending actions being filed against them, they'll need to contact the firm directly handling this file. The number to the firm is 855-362-2752. Please reference the firm number as 300-***-**. It is imperative that you contact the firm within 24 hours, otherwise they will be forced to proceed without your consent. Please be advised the call is being logged and submitted as proof that (uncles name) has been notified of the pending action being filed against them. Thank you."
Pretty shady if you ask me.- Caller: No company name given
- Laura replies to MichelleThey called looking for sister in law, they are trackers for most part. There is a summons for my sister in law, that is what the reference number is for. She left my number as a message number probably so she can run and hide more than likely. I don't like my sister in law very much.
- HowardI received a message on my phone at 2:26 pm (caller identity withheld) today saying that I was being sued over money due and that I should call 855-362-2752 and that the call was being recorded as legally notifying me. My wife got the message and called back. They sent her an email with letterhead, etc. It was the same as CWG40 reported above on June 21, 2017
- Caller: Glenmore Associates
- Call type: Debt collector
- YoudontneedtoknowCalled my sister first told her i used her as a contact for a package delivery. She provided them with no info. They then called me from a blocked number. And by the way, no they are not trackers, i have assisted in several investigations regarding scammers such as these. They use multiple phone numbers, create websites and anything to try and legitimize their illegal practices. I have dealt with these calls for years, unfortunately i have had my identity stolen by people that perpetrate scams like these. Anyhow, they left me a message ,the same as Jennifer's above. I work in law enforcement, so i decided to play the message for some of my fellow officers, some actually offered to call this group back, but i think i will just forward it off the Attorney General and Department of Consumer Affairs. No one will call you in advance of a lawsuit or action being filed against you. You will reeive notice by mail and most of the time its certified. Do not give these guys the time of day or personal information. I have no debt and excellent credit and believe me i wouldnt be able to remain in the field i am in if I truly had these issues.

- Angela Gilbert replies to JenniferI just got a call from the same number. Yes it's a scam.... don't let them scare you. Just don't answer the phone. They are wanting money.
- Keri KienholzAbsolute SCAM. As a person with zero debt and great credit its nice to be confident I owe no one money. They call saying "a federal document was undelivered, if we do not hear from you we cannot guarentee you will not be arrested or served" After messing with them on writing down the document number and "case" number, he finally caught on and told me "good luck" with my situation. Sadly these scam artists make so much money off of people too naive to know this new age scam. Too bad they call without caller id. Otherwise I would block.
- Caller: Glenmore Associates
- Justin| 1 replySame got blocked call yata yata. Had them send me there contract and took it to my bank and asked if it was a scam they told me its a scam . and I had nothing to worry about but to be on safe side I'm canceling my old bank card.

- Layla replies to Michelle| 1 replyYes i need 2 know wtf. They said they were goin 2 start garnishing wages. Can they really do this? Who r these people
- Layla replies to JustinSounds like a good idea. Im actually scared cuz the debt their talkin about is real. Its like over 15yrs old tho
- BigA replies to LaylaIn order to garnish wages they have to sue you in court. Any debt 15 years old would be past the statute of limitations in every state which means they could not legally sue you. I would suggest that instead of asking random people questions, people who are as clueless as you about this, you read CWG40's post up there and use that advice to report them. The CFPB is a wealth of information on debt collection and you should be using that site to read and learn. Your State Attorney General probably also has information on it. You should be reading that and learning as well and while you are at both those sites, you should be using the information CWG40 has taken the time to post and reporting these crooks as well.
Read up on your rights here and also make a complaint at this government site: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.
List of State AG’s offices: https://800notes.com/faq/attorney-general - TerryGlenmore Acquistions was using a different number yesterday, 855-728-5266 when a yuong woman left a message with a File No and a statement that the law firm would be filing a complaint in 24 hours! Scam and so frustrating that they obtain cell phone numbers so easily.
- Caller: Glenmore Acquistions
- MVG replies to MichelleI too got a call from this place, but it went to my voicemail. It was a woman who left a voicemail saying she was calling from "The Firm" and I needed to call them back because there was a complaint filed against me and left me a reference number to use when I call. She did not leave the name of the organization or facility, she simply said "The Firm" and the number I was asked to call back was: 855-728-5266. I called the number and I got an answering machine with a man's voice and said it was called Glenmore acquisitions. When I Googled the name, there was a website however when you click on the link and went to the website there was a tab to click on for further information but when you clicked on it nothing happened. It was a fake website.
