Easily confirmed by a simple call to Bank of America that this is NOT one of their numbers. Any comments on this site that say otherwise are probably made by the scammers. Don’t be fooled, they are just trying to get personal information.

This is NOT TRUE. I can only assume that you are in collaboration with the scammers. Please stop praying on innocent people. There are enough problems to deal with without this nonsense.

I received a letter yesterday from Bank of America requesting me to call 855-364-2897 to provide additional information about my trust account. Thinking it might be a telephone scam I called the customer service number (1-800-432-1000) listed on my recent Bank of America trust account statement. After waiting on hold for about 10 minutes, the agent I talked to said the request was not a scam.

Did you receive a recent email or letter requesting that you call 855-364-2897 regarding your trust account with Bank of America? I highly recommend first calling the customer service number listed on your recent trust account statement. They will verify whether the request is legitimate or not.

SMB, try calling the Bank of America customer service number printed on your current trust account statement TODAY. You will be surprised what they say NOW.

Since he has already contacted them and was given the correct information there should be no reason to contact them again.  Especially when the person telling him that posted in this thread twice, first as Matthew, and then as WH.  You see, if it was what you are trying to insinuate you would not have taken the time to look the number up afterwards.

I believe there is a reason to contact them again. Especially if you haven’t contacted them in the last few days. When I contacted Bank of America’s customer service number (1-800-432-1000) back on 9/15/2021 they gave me one answer regarding the 855-364-2897 contact number. When my son contacted the same Bank of America customer service number (1-800-432-1000) yesterday 9/24/2021 they gave him the exact opposite answer. They told him the number was not a scam. Why don’t you call the Bank of America customer service number and report back what answer they give you.

You and your alter ego "Matthew" are pushing pretty hard.  The fact that you came back here around 3 hours and 45 minutes later tells me that you wanted to see if someone disputed your post.  I see that you have also ignored answering the rest of my post.  You assume wrongly that I have reason to contact BOA.  I have no business relationship with that bank and I never would have one.  Before you ask or make a statement, I saw these posts on the homepage..

Received letters in the mail with B of A logo asking me to call 855-364-2897 and give date of birth, social, and address.  Same reference number that other people mentioned, FR4444.  I won't call.

Why would you never have a business relationship with BOA? Perhaps you choose to bank with infamous Wells Fargo instead. BTW, Matthew isn't my alter ego, but he is my 18 year old son.

I got the same email with the exact same reference number FR4444! I even went to my local BofA, they told me it was legit. Luckily I googled the phone number first and found this thread.

Define SCAM email w/this number - B of A states: We'll never ask for your personal information such as SSN or ATM PIN in email messages. If you get an email that looks suspicious or you are not the intended recipient of this email, don't click on any links. Instead, forward to

I received the same e-mails about my trust account with the same phone # and reference #.  I did report it to bofa abuse, waiting to hear their response.  Sounds fishy that I wasn't sent a secure message on my BofA account.

Not giving ant personal info on the phoine.
Boa can't even tell you it's legit!
They wanted to call the same number on the letter.
If they need info on the account, the local branch woyuld know.

Bank of America can't tell you it's legit.

Received the same letter regarding my trust account with same reference number FR444; tips it's bogus (1)the letter is a photocopy; (2) there are no "grantors" on a trust and (3) the P.O. Box at the top of the letter is in San Antonio and BofA letters always reference Wilmington, DE.  Verified with the real BofA and yes, it's a scam.

To check the authenticity of the letter I got regarding my trust account, I signed in to my BofA trust account online and used Live Chat. The BofA chat rep confirmed that they did send me a letter and that I should call 855-364-2897. I called the number and was placed on hold for about 25 minutes and then an agent in San Antonio verified my trust account information.

I received a letter and was also suspicious so called BofA's regular customer service number. The woman was very helpful, did a lot of research, including calling the number on the letter I received. She also noted there was a message on our account profile indicating information was missing. She said she would transfer me directly to the department in question - which she did and I held for a VERY long time listening to the lovely music loop. Then the call dropped. Because BofA. If you have concerns I suggest going through BofA's regular customer service number on your statement. At this point I'll either go to the branch or call the number in question... still don't know. I also pointed out that maybe they should send letters on their regular letterhead next time...
