- LiarsI received a call from a woman at , Willian wiseman and brockman telling me their was a formal complaint filed against me. I had to call back or the would continue with the filing of this complaint. They knew my full name and even the last 4 numbers of my social security number. The call showed up on my phone as an "unknown" caller. I've been dealing with these kinds of calls ever since my X-husband filled chapter 11 after our divorce 15 years ago. Apparently all the debt fell into me even though none of the charges were made by me. Just remember ---they don't put ppl in jail for debt!!! I block all these calls and never worry anymore. My advice to all.....never answer a call from any toll free numbers!!

- Yvonne| 2 repliesI received a call from a woman name Pam Jenkins, William Wiseman and Brockman telling me that their is a formal complaint filed against me. Explaining that I had to call her back or they will continue filing the complaint. They knew my full name and the the last four numbers of my Social Security. The caller ID showed Private Number. I don't answer Private Numbers especially if I don't know who is calling. Well, I went ahead and Googled the name William Wiseman and Brockman and their is no name that came up in the search.

- LaraMy dad received a call and someone at this office stated some bogus case number and told him i had until the end of the day to call them or they were going to continue with filing the complaint. He said they were very rude and aggressive. I looked up the number online and alls it says is scams.. nothing legitimate. Wont be calling back until i see a validation of debt. Sick of scammers. Call came up unknown when they called.

- Anon| 3 repliesI've received a few calls from these people. All of them were so muffled I could barely understand what they were saying. Yesterday I finally got one that was clear. He said he was calling in regards to a claim that I was named a defendant in. He said I needed to call back ASAP as the situation had been escalated. I called back and spoke to Mike Madero. He said the claim was from some company I've never heard of. I'm not saying it wasn't my debt or was, I have no idea. But I didn't recognize the bank name and he said the debt was from 2007. I know the statute of limitations in my state is 6 years so I don't know why it took them this long to call. I asked for validation to be mailed to me but he said there wasn't enough time for me to receive it in the mail so he could only fax or email. I agreed to email but all he sent me was a copy of a settlement offer. After reading all of these comments I'm pretty sure I'm not going to agree to anything with them. I can't verify that this is my debt as I can't go back and get past credit reports and there's nothing on my current credit report with this name. I know darn well they can't garnish my wages without suing me and I don't think they can sue me now. If they can and we go to court I will agree to pay what I can pay. But until then I will not deal with them as I can't prove they're even legit.

- Yoda1725 replies to AnonNo such law firm exists. You caller bears all the hallmarks of a a fake debt collector, and should be treated as such.
FDCPA requires that all debt collectors send you validation of debt within 5 days of initial contact, via USPS. Email, carrier pigeon, smoke signals, telegram, don't count. Do not engage with them any further. - BigA replies to Anon"If they can and we go to court I will agree to pay what I can pay." Not if it is past SOL as that is an affirmative defense, Not only that, but if they would sue you at that point you would be able to counter sue them for FDCPA violations. As Yoda pointed out, they don't want to mail you anything they want to scare you into paying them on the spot (extortion).
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

- MieI received a call from William, Weisman & Brockman from an Ann Shultz. She said she was calling about a debt back that she claims was started in 2008 from a bank. I had never heard of the company (bank) she was talking about. They gave me a supposed old balance and claimed they would lower it by 24%. She couldn't give me the name of the so called company. She claimed they didn't provide them with that information and she never stated the "mini-Miranda's" either. I looked them up and the company she's calling from does not exist. My husband works for the court system and we would be the first to know if there was something wrong. Plus that would be the case also, if we had outstanding debt.
