- Scammed| 1 replyMr. O'Reilly called and stated we were about to be sued in court. I talked to him and he passed me off to a Victoria Martin and she said she was an attorney licensed in Texas and various other states. She said her maiden name was Gordon. She is not licensed to practice law in Texas according to the State Bar. Beware.

- Victim| 1 replyDefinitely a scam! Regrettably, I believed harrassing calls and voicemails (threats) they left me saying they would subpoena for a lawsuit and send a Deputy "Donovan Artur" to retain me to appear in court unless I paid the debt owed. I paid $1000 to them yesterday 3-15-2011, thinking I was paying off my past debt when in actuality it was a SCAM! I sent them a debt validation letter and asked them to send me LEGAL proof however they hung up on me and will not reply to my emails. Please, don't let this happen to you. I let my Navy Federal bank know as soon as possible, cancelled my card, and received half of my money back so far! I am waiting for the other half to come in. I filed a complaint @ ftc.gov and also filing a fraud police report. They are pending a legal investigation on this company who claims to be STEELE MORGAN ASSOCIATES LLC. Please do NOT call these scammers back!
- anonymous replies to VictimLegit collectors, per section 809 of the FDCPA http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre27.pdf , *must* send you paperwork stating :
1. amount and the name of the current creditor (which may differ from the original creditor who might have sold your debt),
2. that debt will be assumed to be valid unless you dispute in writing within 30 days,
3. that if you do dispute in writing, the collector must mail you written verification of the debt,
4. that if you ask the collector in writing within 30 days, the collector must send you the name and address of the original creditor if it's different from the current creditor.
If you don't get the paperwork (you do not have to ask for it, the FDCPA requires the collector to send it), treat the collector like you would any SCAMMER. - anonymous replies to ScammedTHIS MAY BE A SCAM. Nellis| 6 repliesI posted a message an hour ago, and I've been browsing your site. I saw about the Payday Loan scams, I am now worried more about yesterday's transactions. My daughter's loan was a Payday loan and now I'm wondering if we were scammed and maybe our money won't go to the proper lenders. Does anyone know about Integrity Management Group? That's who Victoria connected us with and who took our money, supposedly to settle this Payday loan debt. I pulled up their website, but it doesn't appear debt collection is part of their services.

- anonymous replies to C. Nellis| 3 repliesCompany names are irrelevant, scammers make up new names all the time. 2 reasons why I think you've been scammed:
1. Debtor threatened with arrest. Debtors are not arrested for ordinary civil debt because debt is covered under civil law like divorce is (no jail). Arrest is for serious crimes like robbery that are covered under criminal law (jail possible). Scammers threaten jail to frighten targets who may not know about this difference into paying them. You can be sent to jail for fraud and while passing a bad check is technically fraud, the checks written on one's own account for payday loans are *not* considered criminally fraudulent unless you've done it several times (intent, etc.). Legit collectors won't threaten jail.
2. No paperwork. Legit collectors will send paperwork per the FDCPA. No paperwork says scam to me.
Call your card issuer now and ask them to claw back the charge. Make sure you tell your issuer that this is fraud. "Dispute" is for billing problems and this is not a billing problem but a crime; you must say "fraud." Replace your card. Criminals have it and can charge again. Beware your name/number may be sold on to other scammers and other scams may be run against you. *NEVER* give personal info or $money to *ANY* stranger for *ANY* reason until and after you check them out first. Google is your best friend on the net. Good luck. - C. Nellis replies to anonymous| 2 repliesThank you so much for your reply and good info. Yesterday, 3/16/11, I reported our card as lost or stolen, at the suggestion of the bank. They explained to me why I needed to dispute this charge rather than calling it fraud. Since my daughter had actually gotten a Payday loan in 2007, it 'may' be a valid debt and I did give my credit card # willingly (grudgingly is a better word"). Well, my daughter said her loan was for $400.00, and she took care of it and she has not heard from them since 2007. She didn't even know what I was talking about when I called her that evening. V. Martin had called her earlier in the day and started turning the screws, but under a different guise and many more lies. V. Martin told me that my daughter's debt was $1855.00 but she had gotten "them" to agree on $1200.00 if paid in the next couple of hours. They both said we would receive paperwork laying out a re-payment schedule and my daughter would also receive the same paperwork. I asked her why they would set up a repayment schedule for my daughter to pay US back and she mumbled something about Payday loans knowing that she was keeping her word. They told me that the payment would be $50 to $80 per month. ACKkkk... Of course this whole situation was so unlike our daughter, but since she lives 2000 miles away I realize moms aren't told everything! This All happened in a pressure/panic mode created by V. Martin over a period of about 4 hours. Thank you for your help and information. Is it possible to find out if this is a valid debt collector/agency? Also, earlier today we received a call from Cincinnati, OH, asking for our daughter, and my husband said there was no "Jane Doe" living here, she said "OK" and hung up. He was pretty sure it was the same "V. Martin".
- anonymous replies to C. NellisOn validity of IMG: Googled "integrity management group" and found many websites with similar names but many are related to real estate management, none to collections. Googled "integrity management group collection" and found nothing except for a mysterious Integrity Management Group on imgmemphis.com which tries to load content from dsnextgen.com. McAfee SiteAdvisor shows imgmemphis as safe but dsnextgen is a dodgy site that may host malware (malware last reported by DanTheMan7 on 02/10/11). One of my browser extensions blocks 3rd-party content but you shouldn't try it. Don't visit either site. A reverse search on 855-467-3320 found nothing. None of these searches proves that IMG is a scam but a "company" that I would never do business with. If you really want to find out if IMG is a real collector, I cannot help you, you need to find someone else with better skills and especially better tools. A detective agency with database access (they pay $ for access) can probably tell you conclusively if IMG is for real. I think IMG is a scammer given that it operates so similarly to the so many scammers reported on 800notes.
Your bank gave you bad advice on reporting your card as lost or stolen. This only adds suspicion that you are evading payment on delinquent debt (in your case, it's payer's remorse). Card issuers are in the business of offering cash loans and won't look favorably on anyone who appears to be evading debt payment. *ALWAYS* be on the level when dealing with financial entities like banks and card issuers.
Your card issuer refuses to go the fraud route because he believes the transaction is payment on a delinquent payday loan. One way is to show the collector is fake. Another is to show your daughter did pay off her loan. Can she go back to that lender and get positive proof stating her loan was paid off? With proof in hand, you can show it to your issuer and claim fraud. I'm guessing it'll be easier to get proof-of-payment than proof-of-fake-collector. She should get this loan-is-paid letter anyway because she may need it again in the future. - anonymous replies to C. NellisJust thought of this - try the Bud Hibbs website http://www.budhibbs.com/ He maintains a list of legit debt collectors and perhaps he can check out Integrity Management Group for you as he must be interested in adding to his list. Best of luck.
- anonymousI just recieved a message from this number but the ladies name was Amy Sedowski and she was with E and E Assocaites. She said we had a prelegal complaint against my husband in our county and we needed to call or to have our attorney call before litigation was filed. We have debt and we had a payday loan a year ago. But we paid it back and no longer owe them anything. I tried to look up the company name and can't find them. I even looked on the budhibbs website and could not pull them up. Not sure what to do.

- youngnurseI was recently contacted from the 678-681-1693, 1509 and 1472 are all the same E&E associates, Edison, Esscott and Associates, they have about three people who have contacted me they have an address that showed up in the BBB website with the address of 3850 Holcomb Bridge Road Suite 240, now I don't believe they are a legitimate law office of any kind they threatened my nursing license and to freeze my bank accounts saying that I wrote 32 false checks for my student loan which is crazy being that the account was to be automatically withdrawn through a debit card. The amount they wanted to collect was over twice the amount of the original owed. No personal information was given and I have yet to hear back from them being that I have asked to set up an arrangement. The paperwork that I requested be sent to me were scanned documents of my original aggreement not PDF files and they were signed by Verna Martin, the person I spoke with said her name was Samantha Borden which sounds similiar to one of the previous persons with the last name Gordon, either way these people need to be prosecuted for stealing money from people trying to make it in this economic times if there are others with further information out there continue to post this fraudulent behavior it makes a diffrernce!

- nursealsoyoungnurse,
I had the same thing happen to me. They called me and said I was being charged with writing bad checks and I would be losing my nursing license. I said I have had the same checking account for 15 years and asked her which bank? She became belligerent and said you should know it is your account. She tried to bully me into having my inlaws sign for a loan for me. She then stated she was having me arrested by the Dept of Justice and I would be arrested in front of my children and coworkers. She then called my elderly mother and told her that she needed to give her a credit card immediately to keep me out of jail and prevent me from losing my nursing license. I encourage you to file a complaint with the FTC. It is very easy to do on their website. I am pregnant and having complications and do not need this kind of harrassment!- Caller: Edison, Escott and Associates
