So, block them (if possible) and ensure you're on the Do Not Call registry. If they call again tell them to remove your number from their list, and threaten to report them while also telling them you will file a lawsuit for harassment with the loss of peace of mind.
Or, just don't answer, and DON'T CALL THEM BACK.- Caller: Quinstreet

- anon replies to Dana| 7 repliesBeing on a do not call list doesnt apply to these calls beings they are calling because your number was placed submitted as part of a request for service it falls under the preexisting business relationship part of the do not call acts.
- yef replies to anonWhich part of ALL the above posts stating they made NO such request wasn't clear to you?
- Tamianth replies to anon| 4 repliesThats complete horse pucky! Its the oldest excuse in the book to try and get around the real issue. Its been pulled by spammers - it was lame then, its lame now! And guess what, it doesn't work anymore!
Oh, in case you didn't get the memo, the rules have changed which weakens your excuse to useless and worthless..

http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0108-national-do-not-call-registry - Josh replies to Tamianth| 3 repliesYou got those telemarketing laws down! It is illegal to call people on the Do Not Call List. What you're missing is that the TCPA allows telemarketers to call people if they are given consent. I'm willing to bet actual money that most of the people above "accidentally" checked a little box saying that QuinStreet, as well as other companies have permission to call the number that you put on the internet. Generally that's on job websites. Maybe you didn't read it, or just assumed it was terms and agreement, but that's still consent.
Also, I imagine that sometimes people enter the wrong phone number. The law might get a bit fuzzy there, but the company can't be held accountable for somebody else's mistake - Tamianth replies to Josh| 2 repliesThey have to have a written signature now..

http://www.kleinmoynihan.com/publication/new- ... ctober-16-2013/ - Josh replies to Tamianth| 1 replyActually, it does not need to literally be a written acknowledgement with a literal signature. An online consent form is perfectly within the boundaries of the TCPA laws.
I've taken classes on telemarketing and TCPA laws this past month, so I'm very aware of the laws out there - Tamianth replies to JoshThis is why I do not do anything or fill out anything online. I wouldn't "digitally sign" anything and if this claim was made, it would be forgery.. Generally outfits I do have business with, have also gotten a certified or return receipt DNC letter to back up my phone conversation of DNC.
- BostonHollyhere it is 2+ years later and they are still calling. The DNC list has nothing to do with international callers nor spoofed numbers nor illegal callers. It's for legitimate companies making legitimate telemarketing calls that are bothersome who have been asked repeatedly to stop calling your house. That's it. This type of call is a whole other "ball of killer wax" which they government is powerless to stay on top of , technologically, let alone to stay ahead of or to stop. Hell, we can't even get FIOS in Boston, do you actually believe that our federal or state governments are able to stop these technologically saavy scam callers originating from Cambodia or Romania or Russia or China or India ? hahahhahahahah.
- Caller: some spoofed scam or other
- JBCalled, left no message. Assume it's spam.
- Godzilla-9 replies to anonNo anon it does not come under preexisting business relationship. If I didn't place my number on their site then I don't want to hear from them. Anyone including a co-worker of that business can place a number on the site.
- Godzilla-9I got a call from this number asking if I received an auto-insurance quote in the mail that I never requested. He said he was from "improvement Center." I told him I am not looking for auto-insurance. I am on the DNC list and I want a copy of their DNC policy. He promised to put me on their internal DNC list and gave me a call back number of 925-301-9389. I called the local number back and heard voice mail saying "Thank you for calling Quinn Street." So the guy violated CA law by not giving the name of his company. Why would he hide?
