- ZI got a call from someone saying they are with American Courier and that they would be delivering court documents to my home. The man said if I was in the dark about this I should call the person(s) sending the papers. They gave me this number 855-494-8038 and a ref#. The people that answered wouldnt tell me who they were other than Schmitt and Associates. She said they were a lawfirm and had a case against me about a credit card from 2004. The courier/server never showed and thats when I called the company back. I argued with them as to who they were and what type of law they practice to which they never stated. After a while they hung up on me and I called back and argued as to who they were and again they hung up. One person gave me an address in San Diego. The address was to a law office but not Schmitt and Associates. They provided a fax number with a Garden Grove Ca area code. This is nothing more than a scam. I continued to call but they would put me on hold and then hang up. The number now is off the hook.
- Caller: American Courier/Schmitt and Associates
- Z replies to bobWhen I called back one person would say they were an operator and that all they did was direct calls. Other times to person answering would try to act as a lawyer. I am in California and there is no Schmitt and Associates listed in the state that practices this type of law. They stated to sue me for a alleged debt from 2010. Ignore them, scammers are trying new tactics everyday and this is one of them. It is not a practice for a server to give you a heads up that you are being served. They (the servers) tend to show up unannounced so you may not avoid them. The so called server that called me sounded very similar to the man that answered the phone when I called the 855 number
- WolfmanJackThis is a common ploy by criminals attempting to extort money from people by scaring you into believing that you will be criminally charged, go to jail, lose your driver’s license, have wages garnished, be sued, and a variety of other variations on this, all for an alleged or nonexistent debt. One of the tricks they use is to call your work place repeatedly in an attempt to shame you into paying. They also use the “process server” who calls and claims he is going to serve you, but then says you could avoid it by calling another number.
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

California AG’s Office: http://oag.ca.gov/ - Private InvestigatorIt looks like Ted Ellis Crosby is at it again! Always check the Statute Of Limitations for debts in your state. If the statute of limitation (SOL) has expired, a debt is said to be “time-barred,” and a creditor or debt collector can't sue you to collect. Any debt collector who threatens to sue you over a debt that is beyond the statute of limitation in your state is in violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
Also, a quick search on him will yield names of family members that are associated with him and multiple legal documents with contact info. Father is an author that does event gigs on the side. Maybe is time to turn the tables around and start making phone calls to his family members. Addresses are public records and are easy to find.
Ted Ellis Crosby (this is his real name but uses multiple aliases) is a SCAMMER and a CRIMINAL. Let's put him back in jail where he belongs but in the meantime, lets call his family.

- TeriesaThis scumbag called my work today and left a message with my supervisor. I don't owe anybody any money. These calls will continue for a while, then they stop for about a year, then start up again. It's is so annoying. Something needs to be done about these criminals.
- Caller: Didn't state
- Teriesa replies to bobNo one is going to show up. When you are being served, you don't get a heads up that they are coming to serve you legal papers. You or your employer can tell them to stop harassing you at your workplace. They are supposed to stop, but I wouldn't count on it.
- Teriesa replies to ErinNobody gives you a heads up when they are serving legal papers. I had the same call last year (Just received another a few minutes ago). The woman told me she was coming to my house to serve me with legal papers, she said wanted to make sure she had the correct address! I yelled at her to "Bring it on, come on over, I'll be waiting for you". No one showed up.
