Called to threaten  papers to be served if money not paid for delinquent  credit card. Claimed to be from Law firm Myers and Associates in San Francisco,  CA. Callers name Scott Sanders. About card issued from Providian Nationa Bank

I received a call from them today. I spoke to Lona Jacobs in litigation about a credit card from 2006. She says it was charged off in 2009. I explained to her that it was charged off in 2008 and came off of my credit report this past summer. It stayed the full 7 years. She said it was removed so they could validate the debt. I explained to her that the statute of limitations was in July of this year since it was charged off in 2008. She told me to make a payment of $253 today and agree to monthly payments for 8 months or be served papers tomorrow. I filed a complaint with the FTC immediately. The address is a virtual office and no record can be found for them in California, New York or Florida where she told me they have offices.

In the future, don't give any of these scammers that kind of information - it's none of their business. They get really creative with their excuses. Just tell them to mail you proof of the debt by USPS mail.
