- Caller: Scam
- Cara BeanI have been getting the same text messages so I called the number today the guy tried to tell me I had a old hospital bill from riverview hospital in Gadsden Alabama and I knew that was a lie because I haven't been to that hospital in over 9 years
- Caller: Imperial capital group
- Call type: Debt collector
- UTI received a vague text on 05/22/2023 from 904-585-5080 that says "Dear __________. To avoid noncompliance and escalation please call 833-279-6694. Refer to account #179969. Reply STOP to opt out" I called the numbers back and was answered by a man named Jonathan Rousse. He stated I was going to be receiving an affidavit regarding an AT&T account from 2008 that was sent to collections for appx. $2300. He stated this was then charged off and opened back up in 2013 and is now pending a $9027 "lawsuit" that has been filed in the state of UT and is approved for wage garnishments. I asked about the statue of limitations on collecting old debt and was given some story about how a payment was recently made so it opened the collection back up. He tried to tell me he could settle the debt for like $6200 or something like that. However, I filed chapter 7 bankruptcy in 2016 and this was not on my credit report, so the guy told me it was probably missed. Well unfortunately I had to file chapter 13 recently and offered to provide my attorney info and case #, this Jonathan guys tune changed real quick and wanted to get off the phone with me as quickly as he could. I'm about 99.9% positive this is a scam. He did mention something about me ignoring calls from an "FJN", I don't know what that is. He was able to provide me with my current and my previous address and said it was all on file... I don't know, it's definitely weird but I feel like it's a scam as he was very eager to get me off the phone once I mentioned the statute of limitations and the bankruptcy, and refused to take my attorney or case info.

- TRB| 3 repliesI received a text message from (413)440-1540 today stating "<My Maiden Name from 10 years ago>, several contact attempts have been made & <they used the symbol not the word> require immediate response at 833-963-0944. Urgent & Time Sensitive! Text STOP to OPT out." After responding "STOP" I received the following response: "Imperial Capital Group: You have opted out and will no longer receive messages from this service. Reply RESUME to subscribe. Contact support@icgservices.net."
Imperial Capital Group is a well know investment firm that has been in business for several decades, one of their subsidiaries is Imperial Group, LLC which is a medical debt collection agency. However, their toll free numbers all begin with (800) and the area codes are: (310), (212), (561), (203), (713), and (617). Their emails end in @imperialcapital.com.
They are not registered with the BBB.
None of my search engines find any results for the phone number that is texting, the number provided or the email domain. I believe this is a scam that they have done their research on, probably even purchasing old information on the dark web. There have been several breaches to large companies including Experian over the last few years.
Just my input from a retired investigator.- Caller: Imperial Capital Group

- Nimrod replies to TRB| 2 repliesNot too hard to search for the following information.
The imperialcapital.com domain was registered 1997-09-04, last updated 2021-07-07 and has a current expiration date of 2026-09-03. This indicates a domain being used by a legitimate company.
However...
The icgservices.net domain was registered 2022-09-16, last updated 2022-09-16 (registration) and has a current expiration date of 2023-09-16. It is very common for scammers to only register a domain for a single year.
There is a web site at www.icgservices.net. They identify themselves as "Imperial Capital Group". The site is comprised of just two pages and most of the links on the home page point back to the same page. The link to "Read More" about their "REGULATORY COMPLIANCE" points nowhere.
The only links to another page take one to the "CONTACT" page that is nothing more than a web form so the user can send their name, email and a message to them.
Nowhere on the site do they list a physical address, email address or a phone number.
The whole site reeks of scam.
For more information about the scam they are trying to pull, read the post by "BigA" on the first page.
For any future texts from them:
Forward unwanted spam/scam texts to 7726 (SPAM) and let your phone service provider deal with them.
That number was set up by the phone companies to combat spam texts and they can shutdown offending phone numbers.
Never reply with "STOP", scammers will not honor the request (they have no honor to begin with) and it only verifies that they have texted to a valid number and a person who reads their texts. It will not STOP the texts and may actually make them more frequent.
Never click on a link in such a text as it may cause malware to be inserted on your phone, and even if it does not, just as with replying "STOP" the scammers will know they reached a valid number.
Do not repost any links included in the text message to sites such as this one.
Also, report them here: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov - BigA replies to Nimrod| 1 replyAmazing how a "retired investigator " couldn't find that information.
- Nimrod replies to BigAMaybe they "retired" before Al Gore invented the Internet.
