How's your hearing after that stunt? Modern phones don't transmit sounds at harmful levels so the only harm you did is to your own hearing.

Looks like they are busy this week...just got a call from Process Service Dispatch Dept., Lake County. From a Christopher Versetti (sp?) to be exact. Called me three times, same story that others have had.  I hung up twice and the third time he left the message. They have papers to serve me, they have tried in the past, they will serve me on Monday between 9-4, etc. Told me to call 855-541-0802 with a case number he gave. Amazing scam.

This is a pure simple scam. She will state your real name and tell you that they are trying to serve you court papers. Don't believe them. If court papers were being served, those come direct to your door. DO NOT GIVE HER ANY INFO.

Since she calls from "UNKNOWN CALLER" or "BLOCKED", there is virtually no way to block them on your cell. Now you could setup a forwarding number, like to the FBI, and next time they call forward the number to the FBI.

Recieved call from restricted number 07/31/17. Did not answer so they left message saying her name is Jackilyn Hill with Process Service Dispatch of my county. Said they will make 2 attempts to deliver legal documents at no specified time and date. If I am not avaliable legal action will be taken without my knowledge. Said to call issuing firm at this number and refer a case number they provided. Is this a scam??

I agree but was one of those ignorant people who, before figuring out they were scammers, verified my SSN. Can you help with what I should do now in order to keep my credit as safe as I can at this point?

If your feel you SSN has been compromised, in addition to putting a fraud alert at the 3 credit bureaus, you may want to notify the IRS.  Here is the link, fill out the proper form (probably 14039). Also file a report at the FTC Identity Theft web site as well as learn what else you need to do:
    http://www.irs.gov/Individuals/How-Do-You-Rep ... aud-Activity%3F
    https://www.ftc.gov/faq/consumer-protection/report-identity-theft

Read up on your rights here and also make a complaint at this government site:  http://www.consumerfinance.gov/

Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

That's exactly what I needed! Thank you so much! One question, how do you put an alert on the credit reports?

You have to contact the three credit bureaus directly.

I've gotten the same calls that you all have gotten.  I never answer it since it comes up private.   Same girl leaves the same message.  The funniest thing about all of this is they are asking for my sister, who lives in a different state than me.   I believe TMobile is selling information, since I pay my sisters cells bill and she is through TMobile and I'm with another provider, but when I pay her bill it is paid with my information.    I wonder if we could take them to court:):)

I received a call from an unknown number telling me I had to appear in court. They told me to contact the 855 541 0802 number with any questions. They said  they were a law firm calling in regards to a credit card acct that I don't have!! They also said the creditor would add the debt back onto my credit. Haha  these people are scams!!

Yes they are very rude..They called me, my granddaughter and my job.  When I called them on Friday the person was very rude and called me a liar when I disputed the information and told them that I will see them in court  he hung up on me.  I called back on Monday after I pulled all my information in reference to the credit card that they were calling about  They refused to give me the court date and contact information or location of the company.  After several calls to them today I researched the number and so here I am also warning people to be on the look out for this SCAM!
