It's a scammer...They have called me twice and now called my nephew and a friend's cell number....The lady says she is from the Central Department of Legal Services, and that they have tried to serve me legal papers to my address on file, but for some reason they were returned as undeliverable.  Somehow I think my iPhone was hacked...otherwise they would not have called the other two people that they did when looking for me.  I think they will probably try to scare you into giving out personal information....don't fall for it.

Collection company. Restricted number when they call, but they say to call that 855 545 8582 number. The lady says she is from the Central Department of Legal Services, and that they have tried to serve me legal papers to my address on file, but for some reason they were returned as undelivered.

Central Department of Legal Services just called - left message.  They were "contracted" by another firm and have attempted to serve me with legal documents stating I need to appear in court.  For "some unknown reason" the documents were returned.  Darlene Peterson is the case worker in charge on this case.  They tried to "contact" me two weeks ago by calling a cousin, a sister and my mother. - all reside in states different from me.  If you have negative marks on your credit, they are targeting you and hoping your fear and panic take over and you provide them with a credit card number to avoid "future legal issues".  Don't believe them.  I have had significant problems with my credit and these folks try to take advantage of you by scaring you.  No "Department of Legal Services" would claim returned documents.  They would confirm the mailing address first, and then send the package via certificate mail requiring your signature.

They call family, friends, neighbors and/or places of employment (past or present or both) to create panic and embarrassment so that their intended victim calls them and they can scare that person into paying their extortion money.

This is a common ploy by criminals masquerading as debt collectors who are attempting to extort money from people by scaring you into believing that you will be criminally charged, go to jail, lose your driver’s license, have wages garnished, be sued, and a variety of other variations on this,  all for an alleged or nonexistent debt.  One of the tricks they use is to call your work place, friends, or relatives repeatedly in an attempt to shame you into paying.  They also use the “process server” ruse who calls and claims he is going to serve you, but then says you could avoid it by calling another number

Called saying I owed $6000 on a $300 bank account I had closed and paid off in full 6 and a half years ago. I called back to get more information from them (where they got account info\who sold them collection account) after finding out the company it was originally sold to and I settled through was no longer in business. I was put on hold for half hour, then they wouldn't answer my calls anymore.

Same deal here. Don't be intimidated by this scam as I am the brother of someone they were "trying to contact." They basically got your info (plus family members) from a collections group you already paid off. Just FYI.

I got a call from this number 855 545 8582 and left a message saying that it was front National Document Services and that there was a legal document send to Nicholas Vila and that the document was send back to them and about that it is something good legal and to return the call to Patricia Willis at the above .entire number.  This is a Scam, there is no one in my home called Nicholas Vila. The call show up in my phone as a private caller. THIS IS A SCAM.

The thing is, that we don't owe anything, there is so much scams going on it is scary.

I received this exact same call today, when I called back they were willing to reach a settlement and said that I could pay it with a credit, debit or even a pre-paid card. I didn't sign anything just asked for a certified letter to be sent. Sounded fishy so my wife and I looked into it. Looks like a scam like I thought.

Received the same call almost verbatim telling me to call back a Darlene Peterson with a case number... The next day my brother received the same call... And my mother... Both of which live in a completely different state. I have already warned my other relatives to be on guard. I initially panicked and Googled the legal services Darlene Peterson and found all of these posts reporting the same issue... So I feel much better now. Still unnerving as to how they got my name and my family's name in the first place... I was doing a family tree from ancestry... Perhaps they were hacked? At any rate their number came up as unavailable... If they were an actual company I'm pretty sure they would have a caller ID

just got a  call  from  a number  from  alabama (256-884-3633)  which is where  i have lived for the last year  saying that that had legal papers  from the  county and state that i used to live for me and   asked if i  had any idea  and  that i  needed to call  866-8531124 and i  needed to talk to   Darlene Peterson gave me  a  case number   tried to  call  both  number back and  neither  number  worked  so thats when i  went to the  internet and  found  this  thanks  i  wont  worry about this now

Received the same call saying they were the elite process services and tried to deliver documents and they were returned.Wanted me to call a number and gave me a case number  to call to keep myself out of jail. I hung up and they called right back and did this three or four times till I cut the phone completely off.

Someone from 717-890-3633 called saying they are the central processing unit.  They gave me  Case# 1073643-x

She was trying to serve me papers.  Give her a call and get you legal issues squared away.  The case file is sealed so they could not tell me what it was about.  This lady is in CA and I am in PA.

Ledt a message saying I owe money and if I don't call back I might end up in jail! What a crock I get these calls about once every 3 or 4 years. I called them back the first time and said that person doesn't live here and they insisted they did, I just hung up and never heard another word. They like to hit on old people thinking they wull scare them. I have a good credit rating and don't owe any money, so I know it is a scam call!

My brother received a phone call from a person trying to get in contact with me, leaving a number for me to contact. The name of the person was Darlene Peterson. I contacted her and she said she works for a company who is collecting past owed debt, supposedly I owe a hospital bill of $650.00 . I’m pretty sure she is a scammer

I just received the exact same call today. They called me twice in a row and it said “United States” so I declined the call but she left the exact same thing on my voicemail. If I save it, maybe her voice can be used for a fraud case.

Both my husband and I got the same call (within seconds of each other) as everyone else who posted here has received...the message was a female voice claiming to be calling on behalf of County Document Legal Services contracted to deliver legal documents for my husband to appear in court.  She said, "But for some reason the documents were returned from the address we have on file."  The instructions were to contact attorney's office Darlene Peterson at 888-516-6745 to avoid "further legal complications."  We have both filed lawsuits that resulted in extensive litigation, and this is not how it works if you're being called into court.  A representative of the court serves every court summons BY HAND, IN PERSON, usually at the recipient's home address.  So-called "legal documents" are never sent by mail and are never returned as "undeliverable."

We have received hundreds of these types of calls during the past four years, each one slightly different in its tact, but all scams claiming that the person they're calling is about to be arrested or is being served or owes money for something or whatnot.  Unless a Deputy has shown up at your door or your with an envelope, these calls are all bogus.
