Received an evening voice mail at my office for a woman who has never worked here.  Message said it was from National Bone Marrow Registry as notes above indicated.  Message said it was urgent for the woman to return the call.  Did not call them back.

National Bone Marrow Registry (800) 507-5427 - Don't you think it's odd that they get so many wrong numbers and simply leave a message for something so important?  I've had the same number for 14 years so no chance they have an old number!

OK, I hear this is not spam.  But I am concerned that the large numbers of calls that do not match up to who they are trying to reach, I wonder if they can do better when it comes to transplanting organs or blood.  No reason to trust them.

Woman left vm on my phone for a "Thomas"... Texted from a different number. Says to call back if the number is not Thomas. Very scammy.

The appears to be scammers who are trying to do social engineering. They are asking to reach out to other person who they claim is not responding. Why not they call the person directly? Some social engineering to scam out

I have a strong suspicion this is a debt collections company posing as well-meaning donor program. I got a text and a voicemail from this number. Both text and VM say they are looking for X person, the name was given, and that the named individual registered as a donor in 2017. Lo and behold, it is the same name that I have been getting collect phone calls for two decades.

Sounds more like they previously had your phone number.  Debt collectors would not be calling collect since that would be illegal.  Besides, who in their right mind would accept charges from a DC anyway.
