- Rachel M| 4 repliesGot a call from this number this morning and a voicemail was left. There was a black guy on the other end saying there were looking for an individual with my name (an automated voice spoke my name) and they were looking for me to because a formal complaint had been made against me and they were going to file paperwork in my district. He said if anyone knew of my whereabouts to call 855-595-4274 and then repeated the phone # but when repeated the number, he said 855-595-4724 which is the number that showed on the caller ID. This is not the first time I've received one of these types of call. Before there was a recording of a black female's voice saying the exact same thing this guy said. I'm tired of these calls and I am not going to delete the VM. This is ridiculous. My mother has had the same number for 21 years and I rarely get calls here. Last time I used this number for communication was when I was in high school. That was almost 20 years ago. Ridiculous.

- Rhamius| 3 repliesGot a phone call from this number leaving a voicemail stating that if I knew this individual, to please contact them as there was a formal complaint against me and it was being filed with my local court. I called them back, they stated that they were a mediator service for their client and that the line was being recorded for use in the court case. I was told I had taken out a payday loan and had defaulted on and that I was being taken to court and charged with fraud. They said I could resolve this matter or go to court. I asked for proof of the debt owed and they said they could not do that as the client did not provide them with any. I asked how I could resolve it and they wanted my credit card info. I said, not without any proof of debt, to which they asked, do you want to go to court? I said, proof of debt or I won't pay. She responded by telling me good luck with the court and hanging up on me.

- little annoyed replies to Rachel M| 1 replyi got one too....i called them back from a different number and the girl who answered said they are a mediation group....for what ? she would not say. she asked me for my name, and said no thank you and hung up. I have a suspicion they are a debt collector called Portfolio Recovery....i cannot be sure...but they have a reputation to use scare tactics.
- TIRED OF IT! replies to little annoyedI just received the same message on my work number, and like the others before me, this is not the first time this message has been left at this number.
- Daniel| 1 replyGot the same thing... they provided me some rather good details ... the last four digits of my social... my email address... the bank that I was at ... did anyone get a court filing? Said it was on behalf of the Westgate Group LLC

- Thom replies to RhamiusWow. I got the same call on my home phone a few minutes ago. I didn't answer it but based on what you just said, it's very, VERY similar to one I received a few months ago. Different number, but the same threat. A scam all the way.
- TeresaDon't fall for this... really just hang up on them. I keep asking them not to call, but they call my cell # and my parents home # at least once every 2 months. It's fun to argue with them though if you like that kind of stuff :-)
- SSCI Just got this call moments ago, on my work phone. I don't know what it is but it needs to stop
- LindaGot the same thing... they provided me some rather good details ... the last four digits of my social... my email address... the bank that I was at ... confirmed the last four digits of my bank account number as well as my routing number. said I deposited 510.00 in September 2012. And they would see me in court.

- Jessica replies to Danielyes they told me all that same info before but called from a different number. It's a scam and they're not gonna file anything. I called the BBB on them and they said its a scam.
- CWG40 replies to Rachel M| 1 replyJust another debt collection scam. Same old "a complaint has been filed against you" and "you have to call us back". It's just an attempt to scare some money out of you. If a civil case was pending against you, you'd have heard about it from the attorney for the other side. You'd have received letters and there'd be a paper trail. If a legal complaint has been filed against you, you can easily check it out by going down to your local main civil court and checking to see if your name appears on the defendant's civil list. The court clerks are usually helpful and familiar with these types of scams. Basically simply ignore the calls and block them.
Just because someone on the phone calling you says you owe a debt does not mean you actually owe it.
If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:
1. Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
2. Demand a debt validation letter by US mail. E-mail no good.
3. Do not pay the collection agent or anyone else a dime until the debt is validated
Of course they won’t do this, no scammer ever will, so simply ignore them and block their calls.
If they are bothering you, report them:
http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection (Threats made of a false or oppressive nature in order to collect a civil debt is a violation of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.)
Also contact your local attorney general
If they continue to bother you, and you know you do not owe any money, tell them that you know this is a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion. Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved. Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.
You'll probably have to yell at them and talk over them. Tell 'em no scammy debt collector is going to push you around.
You have to get tuff with these people because, being akin to thugs, brute force is (metaphorically speaking). the only thing they understand. - CWG40ID themselves as "Coastal". Don't know where they are located but this entity has a history of debt scamming on 800notes. Ignore and block their calls.

- NicoleSame thing happened with my Husband today, saying the exact same things that he owed money and will receive summons to appear in court when I asked for proof. I also asked why they had his current phone number, but not his current address, I was informed they hired a private investigator to find him. I said good luck and hung up.
