Threatened me with a legal issue for Williamson County, threatening to come my home or business, called my immediate relatives looking for me as well.

received a local call that action was being brought against me and to call this number but couldn't give any info on who was suing (said the County) but couldn't tell me what court it was being filed in or who was suing. Wanted me to call this 855 number but anything in your state would have a local number. She said action had not been brought yet but that they were the process server.  The process server is allowed to tell you who is suing you but will not CALL first.  They just serve you.  And a company or person who is suing for a collection item has to try to mail you a statement first.  This is a scam.

I just got a text on my phone from this number 855-603-5559. they said that they were filing a case against me and that they were also going to speak with my Supervisor. the text didn't give anymore information about what this is for. they also texted my son with the same exact text.

i JUST got a call and states that they are filing a civil case against me, the girl on the phone called from 210-864-0602 an couldn't give me the party she was calling on behalf for phone number 855-603-5559 an reference filing number 115197.  I don't have any legal action against me this is a fraud!

I received a phone call from a "Nina Williams" calling from "location services" basically trying to scare me into thinking they are going to locate me to serve me court papers.... But its a lie, dont believe it.

She gave me the number 855-603-5559 to call with this "case number". These people are all trying to pass themselves off as court clerks or agents from the civil justice system. They ARE NOT. They are nothing more than shady debt collectors. Do not believe them.

When I called the number, some guy answered trying to act all nice but as soon as I told him that I knew he was just a DEBT COLLECT his whole attitude changed and he got super defensive and upset. I told him that if he is trying to collect a debt then he needed to send me some type of proof of the debt. He provided no response, so obviously they have no legit documentation of a debt.

Seriously, don't believe anything these people say. They will try to scare you and make you think that they are about to file a case against you or something but THEY CANT. Legally, a debt collector must provide at least some type of proof that the debt is legitimate but these people keep ZERO records, or else they would have offered to send me something.

They probably bought the debt, with NO PROOF, from some other collector for pennies on the dollar. They're desperate. How sad.

I received the same kind of all from a man who said a county in CA was filing charges against me. I've never lived in that county or even near that county. He also called a couple of my adult relatives. He gave me the low down and if I did not do what he said he was going to come to my home with the police so I better be ready. I told him bring it on(I knew this was a scam) I'm waiting for you. Of course he never came and I blocked his number.

They have to file in the county that you live in.

The fake process server/location finder extortion SCAM usually consists of the following:

They mention that they have received a Fax document or some sort of complaint and that there is a pending legal matter or action about to filed against you to create the sense of urgency.  They tell you that they are a “process server” and cannot give you the particulars of the case since the file is sealed. This is simply ruse to get you to call another number (often with a made-up case number) where they will ask for money to “make it go away” (this is actually the same place, they work in teams, one pretending to be the server, and the other usually pretends to be a lawyer).  They threaten to serve you at home or at work.  They tell you that if they serve you at work then they will need a supervisor, security, or HR person there as a witness, hoping that will cause you to panic over the alleged embarrassment of being served at work.  They also tell you that you will need two forms of ID.  None of which is true.  Process servers do not ever call ahead so that you can dodge them.  Process servers get paid to serve papers, nothing else.  They certainly are not going to pass up a paycheck by telling you that you can avoid being served, they are not going to give you an extra day or even a few hours to get a “stop order”.  Court documents are time sensitive and must be served within a certain amount of time.  Remember that you can always call the local courthouse to see if there really is a lawsuit that has been filed against you.

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it.  You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.  

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.  If and when you get that letter you should immediately send that debt validation letter by certified, return receipt mail.

Got a call from a Washington state # claiming there wasTold the guy I knew it was a scam and he said he would come to my house I said "See you when you get here!" and I haven't heard or seen him! When they claim there is a suit against you in a city you have NEVER lived in and there's no business you've bought anything from then you know they are a scam!
