- MagretCalled my # today, looking for someone named "Moan" or "Mone" and said if I was not this person I should hang up and gave me a countdown to hang up by. What's that all about??? Anyway, I'm going to add them to my list on the do not call registry.
- Jeff replies to RebeccaI'm having the same problem with these scammers. I told them they have the wrong number, but they still keep calling. I've never even heard of the person they are trying to reach!
- Calvin TatseyThey call my home phone daily, sometimes as much as three times and if I do not answer they leave a recorde3d message on my phone and if I do answer, I get the same recorded message. When I call the number I can never get through. It looks like this number and whoever is behind it is about nothing but harassment...
- MagretThey call me almost every day. I have had 80 phone calls from them since I started keeping track of them in late February. No one is ever on the line. Sometimes they leave a message. Once they asked for “Moan” and once they asked for “Walls” and no one here with either of these names. I have repeatedly reported them to the do not call registry, but the calls continue. I owe no debt to them. I have had my phone number for almost 40 years, and I am about to stop the phone service. I've been keeping my phone unplugged, but it doesn't make any difference because there isn't ever anyone to talk to on the line and the calls come through anyway, I just don't hear the phone ring. How is this legal to do?

- D. Poceus| 1 replyPoceus is my grandfather's surname. 855-622-3500 calls frequently. Also get a recorded announcement from 855-326-9762. Wants a guy who apparently lives in my township who has the same name. I ordered him to STOP... but the calls continue. Is there an attorney out there willing to take this case of harassment for a very significant cut of a possible judgement?
- Caller: NCB Management -- Matthew (?)
- Call type: Debt collector
- BigA replies to D. PoceusFirst off, any "attorney" you might find on this web site probably isn't or is someone with low morals. You need to find an attorney in your area that is allowed to practice law in your state. that is the way it works. They should give you contract stating their fees. If it goes to court, and you win, then they get paid by the defendant. That is the way the law works.
Now, for your education:
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

You should send them a cease and desist letter by certified, return receipt mail telling them to stop calling.
Also, here is the law, and remember that each state has their own collection laws as well.
https://www.ftc.gov/enforcement/rules/rulemak ... ctices-act-text - SamCalled and hung up, no caller ID showing. Based on reports here, it's a collection agency trying to collect on my recently-deceased mother's debts.
- Caller: NCB?
- Call type: Debt collector
- SamNCB called 2 days ago, asking for a deceased relative. They kept asking if I was her, and I kept asking who was calling - there was a delay in the call, so they kept getting angrier because they thought I wasn't responding quickly enough, apparently, and kept asking their questions repeatedly - so then when I started getting angry, they started raising their voice at me. They wanted to know where to call this person, then when I said she was deceased, they wanted to know if I was related to her. I asked who was calling and they gave the name of NCB. I finally hung up because they kept asking how to reach the deceased person and if I was related to her.
Don't fall for it - you are not responsible for your deceased relative's debts unless you are the executor of their estate - and then the payment must come from the estate, not your pocket.- Caller: NCB

- SamThese people are persistent. They call every single day at approximately the same time. I have them on my blocked call list, but somehow, they manage to get into my voicemail, where they leave a blank message. No one talking, just the sound of a keyboard clicking and then the call disconnects. They keep calling about my deceased mother's bills, and I've already given them all the info about her death, including the fact that she died without insurance or any estate - she was on medicaid and in a nursing home, so she had nothing when she died. They don't seem to care, and just keep calling. So I just keep blocking them.
I highly recommend the BlackList Android app for your phone if you are using a mobile phone. It takes all of about 5 seconds to add a number to the blocked list.- Caller: NCB Management

- LivI get a call on my home phone from 855-622-3500 at least one a day. They keep asking for the same person who used to have my phone number a few years ago. No matter how many times I tell them that the person they are trying to reach no longer has my phone number, they still call and keep asking again.
- Call type: Debt collector
- SamYet another call from NCB - finally talked to a LIVE person this time and informed them AGAIN that my mother is deceased and they need to stop calling, that there is no money in the estate for them to collect - she had no money when she died and the state wants to take her house for medicaid estate recovery - so there's nothing to collect upon. This person actually apologized and gave me a fax number to send in Mom's death certificate, and asked if anyone had ever offered that to me before - the answer to that is a resounding NO, because they just keep calling, even after I tell them she's deceased!! She assured me she'd take my number out of their system and that once I fax the death certificate, all collection efforts will cease.
I guess we'll see if that actually happens....I have my doubts.- Caller: NCB Management

- Steve| 1 replyJust got a vm from a brian Abramson at this number claiming to be a debt collector for ncb. I called him and was put on hold so I hung up and called back. I got vm this time and left a short message telling that I had just gotten this number and wasn't the one they want, didn't know them
To quit calling my number. Got another call from a blocked number that I cut off without answering. I think I will visit the police and file phone harassment charges against these fatherless [***]. Keep me from having to drive where they are with my baseball bat.- Caller: Ncb
