Looking for my sister for writing bad checks.

Received a call from this number claiming to be a NC highway patrol officer and saying I had to appear in Cumberland County Court for a bad check.  Would not give name, abdgenumber or anything else.  There was a Charlotte-Mecklenberg police office in his car down my street and kept this idiot on the phone and handed the CMPD office the phone and he talked with the guy wich infuriated the officer. Can this not be stopped?

Received a call from some black chick whose voice trailed off to where I could barely make out what she was saying. something about writing bad checks, I haven't had a checking account for like 6 yrs now. why can't people just get real jobs instead of bothering normal hard working Americans. Losers!

Two messages in one day looking for "James Lamont Brown" for writing bad checks.  Never heard of this James character.

This number called me to tell me they were suing me and going to take me to court.  We set up payment arrangements and now when I try to reach them the message says "this number is not set up to receive calls"

Sandy,  I'm just curious.    Do you legitimately owe the money and did you admit to owing it?  How long ago was it and did you ask for written validation of the debt?
Unless you are familiar with a legitimate debt that the collector is calling about,  and his/her legal right to ownership of the debt and the right to collect,  I think I would have held off on any payment plans until the whole thing had been validated in writing to your satisfaction.  Pressure to pay right now, to avoid being sued is a pretty popular scam being used very often today.  A word of advise...and I am not trying to butt in on your business,  but please  never let anyone pressure you into a split second decision.  If they are a legitimate collector,  with a valid legal claim,  then they will happily work with you and provide you with validation and all that it takes to reach the easiest possible solution.  be careful.
