Scammer number and ' official microsoft' page that popped up on my father's laptop after he accessed a site on a yahoo search.  The computer all but shut down, the browers could no longer access the internet and he kept getting a Proxy server error.  The hindi on at the other end of the phone wanted $400 to fix it, then $200 when my father said he could get a new computer for that.  I was able to locate the problem (it had changed the IP number on his computer in the same way that HP does whenever you try to use any inks other than their own on your HP printer).

Same scenario happened with my elderly neighbor. This scammers were charging him for $399 after seeing their pop-up scam Microsoft message on his computer. He called this number and they remoted to his computer and started to pretend to fix his computer.  They are targeting a lot of elderly people who are vulnerable. Luckily, my neighbor called me and asked me for assistance.

How can they "target" any age group when they don't know who is going to be on a certain page when that ad loads?  It is completely random.

Called this number from a box that popped up from our computer. They want me to pay 300.00 to fix my computer.
