It's so frustrating and now they are contacting my employer really makes me angry. I've been at my job almost 13 yrs and lucky for me I have an excellent relationship with all our management. But I feel my rights r constantly being violated by these low life's and trying to take recourse against them through the proper channels is so much work.

http://charmeck.org/city/charlotte/CMPD/Pages/ReportACrime.asp - bigtexJust got another robocall from 855-651-3951. Again it was to my cell phone. I have the number blocked, but that just makes it go directly to voicemail and the recording leaves a message about looking for someone named Dennis something or another. I filed a complaint with the FTC Do Not Call Hotline at 1-800-382-1222 and I played the voicemail message for them. I have found a way to listen to and delete voicemails without using any cellphone minutes. Just call you cellphone from a landline. Wait until the voicemail greeting starts, then push* and put in your voicemail password. You can then listen to the message and delete it and it won't charge you any minutes at all.

- XI just got a call from this number and it asked me to press 1 if I'm the person they're looking for or 2 if I don't know the person. I guess this is just another slimeball scammer. How do you stop these people from calling. They called my cell phone.

- BrendajckI got a called today from this number 855-651-3951 say that an investigator will be contacting me shortly. I've been stop answering their calls but they keep switching phone numbers. Therefore, I answer the phone call. When I hear anything about an investigator, I hang up the phone. I told them long ago--if you get money it will have to be in court because I don't owe anyone such as this.

- Shelly| 1 replyThese people started calling me in December 2011, threatening legal action for a fraud charge over a supposed payday loan from 2007. Same story, pay or go to jail. They call themselves investigators. However, I have been pulled over for a tail light (2012), and the police came to my home for a noise complaint (2014) since then. I believe if there had been any type of fraud warrant, I'd have been arrested when the police ran my name. These people are slimy scammers attempting to extort money anyway they can.

- Alfalfa replies to ShellyThe Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:
•is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
•refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
•asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
•exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
•Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you
.•Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
•Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
•Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
•Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

- TomTo get rid of these people. Tell them you want to settle it by going to court. That is what they are threatening. Tell them you won't settle it otherwise. They transfer you from "investigations department" to "closures" department. The investigator in the closures department tells you what you can expect. "Two sheriff's officers showing up at your home or work to serve you a subpoena to appear." So they are trying to get you to pay based on you not wanting to be embarrassed by the cops showing up. LOL please. At least then you would get a copy of some paperwork. They may even tell you that you will be arrested when the police show. Don't be fooled. The sheriff's office won't serve you a subpoena. LOL, that must be done by a private individual or company. Anyway, once you tell them you want it to go to court, and they take you through the rigmarole of everything that will happen, they hand up on you and you never hear from them again. They stop calling and no one ever shows up with a subpoena.

- VickiReceived a call from this number today at work; not sure how they have a work #; they left a recorded VM message- with a 2014-XXXXXX case # stating that I or whomever gets the call needs to call their office today at 1-855-947-7266. No company name or contact# was left on the VM. The 1-855-947-7266# also called my work# about 2 weeks ago and left the same VM. I have alerted my boss and the HR department as well. I am also going to report this phone# to the DNC listing and the FTC; I don't know anyone in SC or NC, nor do owe anyone money whom I am not presently aware of or dealing with. I am so tired of these kinds of calls.

I have been getting these calls for 2 1/2 years. Home, cell, work, friends, family. If I ever found these people in person...well, then there may be a REASON to threaten me with legal action. ;~)
