Received on My laptop, which interrupted the program in use and started flashing and an audio message of internet security / alert virus, to call this # & not to shut down computer.

This is a Real scam, and they took $250 from my elderly mother... Microsoft will never call you, give these messages, or charge you money.  I called this same number my mom gave me and gave Them a piece of my mind!!
Shut down your computer and disconnect from the internet for a few hours....

SCAM

POS Indian scam artists taking advantage of unknowing people. Nothing makes my blood boil more. If you receive this open up task manager (hit "Ctrl" & "Alt" & "Delete" at the same time, if it does not work first attempt, keep trying). Select task manager, and then look at the processes running. Right click on Chrome.exe or IE.exe or Firefox.exe depending on what internet browser you use. Right click and select end process.

If you receive this please call that number and waste as much of their time as possible by asking the most simple of questions, ie repeat the question, ask what is remote control, etc. As an IT person nothing makes me angrier than these snake Indians scamming elderly/older people that are not wise to this sort of thing.

Please call her bank and ask for a chargeback, say that she was scammed and let them know the phone number etc. So they can at least be aware that this is happening.

Same thing happened to me that happened to Southern Lady yesterday early afternoon. I didn't know what the heck was going it. It kicked me right off my site just like her. I actually called the number, I didn't know for sure what was happening. Once I heard that Indian guys voice (could barely understand him), he said I had to let him have access to my computer so he could go in there and do ???? whatever. I said "NO WAY"!! "I don't know who you are, you could be a scam for all I know". "I'm not giving you access to my computer". He said "But, you called me".
I said "Not anymore", and I hung up. I was so ticked off. Was still thinking about it today.
