They try to immobilize your phone with an ‘alert’ from Apple Security. Definitely a Scam also trying to Sell you a “security plan” for $150-  SCAM

Immobilized my iPad with notice that my iPhone was in danger. I don't have an iPhone.

Shut down my iPhone and told me to call this number a Indian man picked up and told me to buy an apple security plan to protect my phone

My browser told me to call that number. The rep was asking me personal info so I hung up. It’s a scam

Took over my iPhone safari. I called the number and an Indian man answered right away and told me I would need to pay $200 to unblock my phone. I hung up.

Took over my safari and when I called the number they told me my security plan warrant with Apple has expired. Asked for my phone serial number. Should I be worried they can access my data with the serial number

If you have an IOS device (iPhone or iPad), the solution is very simple.  Go to settings, click on safari, then click on clear history and website data.  Theoretically, your IOS device can’t be infected if it hasn’t been jailbreaked (jail broken?).

My safari was locked up.  This number kept popping up.   The number also popped up w a page that appeared to be from Apple with directions on what to do to fix this problem.

I called it and they said they were from Apple and they needed my Apple ID and password.   I asked them to prove they were Apple.  They said well we sent the number to your phone.  I told them that wasn’t good enough and if they sent the number they should know what the problem is.   I then asked if there was any other way to solve the problem and he told me I could go to an Apple store.   I said that i would do that and I hung up.  Since I could not open or close any windows in safari I went to my settings and cleared my history.  I opened safari and everything was back to normal and the number was gone.

I was on imgur and clicked on a meme, it sent me to a porn site, when I clicked to close it there was a warning that my iPhone security had been compromised and to call this number. When I went to close the window, this number kept flashing on my phone. I had to do a soft reset to get it to quit. Went to setting and cleared safari’s history and cookies. Then downloaded and installed iOS 11.4

I found same problem on iPhone . the safari was blocked by someone showing this phone number that I have to call . I called  Indian guy told me have to buy virus protection cost is $200-$400 . If I ignore my phone will be shut down in a few mins.  I hanged up and go to solve by go to setting-clear history data , turn on  block up  , block all cookies.... My safari is back .

I received an alert to call 1-855-666-1775 and called - an Indian man answered and told me I had been hacked by an unsafe website — it seemed bogus so I hung up, but the alert was frozen — I went to settings/Safari/clear history and eliminated the alert

Had you been using and ad blocker you would have never seen that alert.

Just go to safari to clear and delete. And stay away from the website that triggered it.
