Well, you can try this:  See if you can disconnect your modem.   Then shut down completely.  Then restart and when fully booted up, reconnected your modem.  That should do it.  I'm not completely computer savvy and I'm using an older Dell, but that's what I'd do.     If it still won't go away you will have to use your own system restore device.
