- Jim| 2 repliesI got a message from a "Chris Mason" who was representing “SCC Associates”. He left a very detailed message about a person who had committed check fraud complete with the persons full name, a reference number, and then said that “I had been served”. The problem is that I am not the person in question. I called them back to tell them they had a wrong number and they should not be leaving such a detailed message. I got the standard “Do you know this person” and “We will remove you from our calling list” response from the woman who answered the phone.
I didn’t think it was legal for a collection agency to leave such a detailed message at an unconfirmed phone number.- Caller: SCC and Associates

- LaurieRobert Crane called my business asking for someone named Laurie regarding a collection matter. He proceeded to tell my secretary detailed information about this person, including their ss# and date of birth. Isn't that a violation of someones privacy If you get a call from anyone representing SCC you should register your number on donotcalllist.gov and report them to the authorities for continued harassment. It may not go far but at least you have a report filed in the event that they continue their harassment.

- Cindi replies to JimIt isn't. I worked in collections and it is not legal whether it is first or third party collectors. This is bogus.

- vörös replies to Jimcontact your local better business bureau and/or consumer protection agency. apparently, they aren't playing by the rules.
- vörös replies to larry garciasounds like a less-than-educated collections person is trying to scare you with legal-sounding baloney. you can't "be served" with a bad cheque, unless the chef is really having a bad day, or the waiter is from czechoslovakia.
but if the bozo is spreading false information about you, it could be grounds for legal action - you might want to consult a lawyer. - April HardeeI got a call from a Man named Tom McNeil stating he was from the FCC associates in regarding Quick Cash. Said I had written a bad check. I told the Man ,I have never used quick cash. When I asked where he was from he told me NY ,well im from SC. He told me I was gonna be served with papers unless I paid $224, said it had to be paid with a credit card. I immediately hung the phone up.
